Just what I said. Do a partial ban. They can only export as much as it exceeds the average demand in the USA. We aren’t talking about the effect of the price of eggs on our economy here.
Side note: Tesla is rolling out electric-18 wheelers that is .47 per mile cheaper than diesel trucks.
EV cars are also much more efficient.
And then the self driving.

Dang. I never realized the US exports nearly 1.5-19 million bpd of diesel. We produce about 5.3 million bpd. Now that makes it even more interesting as to why the prices are so high...oh yeah: Market speculation. And likely the Chinese and Indians buying it up as fast as they can. I also didn't know that Australia is the world's greatest importer of diesel.
Maybe if Trump stops exports it'll force some of our allies to step up and help us end this war with Iran. Maybe they'll finally wake up and smell the coffee.

Glad I’m not a diesel exporter. Not sure how a ban is going to lower diesel prices anyway since it’s a globally traded commodity.
This is the best time maybe ever to be a diesel exporter. At these prices, it is far more lucrative to export than to keep domestically. I don’t favor government controls on what a business can legally sell.
And the US is maxed out on diesel refining. We can’t simply ramp up diesel refining.
As to why the price is high…. It’s a combination of things. Russia ukraine war is a factor. The Iran war is a factor. Both areas have seen an interruption in refining capacity and shipping.
We can’t seem to control the Russian Ukraine war. We should be in control of the Iran war but we don’t seem to be.
So anyone that thinks this is ONLY because of war in Russia Ukraine or ONLY because of Iran war is incorrect. It’s both.

Explain to me how stopping the export of diesel lower the price. There are no shortages, right?
Won’t refineries cut back on producing diesel if they can’t export what they have?

Banning exports of Diesel is not a solution. Its an extremely short-term fix.

On the surface this looks like a good idea, but thanks to the ridiculous difficulties in building new pipelines and refineries, US interstate shipping infrastructure of refined diesel would quickly turn the price drop from surpluses into another spike in prices as the limitations in shipping reared its ugly head. I can get into the difficulties if anyone wants, but fair warning: it gets pretty deep into the weeds when discussing PADDs, Jones Act, etc.

How did we ship diesel around the US before the war? Why can we not use existing infrastructure when the demand in the US is still the same as before?
