I guarantee if Toyota was still putting the 5.7 in the new Tundra, they wouldn’t be scrambling to repair or replace a crap 6 cyl. The government needs to stop with the cafe standards when they run around in armor plated vehicles that get 5 mph and fly jets all over the country.

No. China is a communist country with a history of human rights violations and they build with slave labor. Our industry can’t compete with that.

China will also engage in unfair trade by supplementing Chinese imports from the CCP budget in order to take the place of American Companies in the market. Once they are established in the American marketplace, they will gradually raise prices.

The CCP has been doing this to American workers for decades, but the Massie supporters can't grasp concepts other than "muh fee trade".

Give me a new straight side GMC truck with real buttons, a normal shifter and normally aspirated V8 that gets 10 mpg and doesn’t turn off at every red light if I want it .

And require makers to design cars that have certain parts to be easily repaired.

- Make oil filters and drain plugs in a location that when changing, oil doesnt run all over cross members or frame rails. It drains directly into a pan or bucket.
- Headlights should NOT require removal of bumpers, fenders or huge amounts of plastic shrouds. Replacing headlights should take less than 5 minutes.
- Car batteries in an easily replaceable location. Not under a seat or buried under the spare tire. For years they were under the hood in a spot that could be accessed.
- I would even require belts, spark plugs and coils, and air filters to be easily replaced.

Even if most people dont do these repairs themselves and use a shop, it would drastically reduce the cost and time to do those repairs. Instead of having to remove the engine to get to replace a hose.

I don't want an EV or Hybrid. I'd like a new car that runs on gasoline. But they don't make those things anymore.

A vee 6 4x4 , engine control module, fuel injection, back up camera, tire pressure monitoring. every thing else hand crank or analogue on a GMC Colorado body. That would be a vehicle that would last as long as the 15 year car note

I was recently shopping in the mid-size truck market. If you want a v6 your options are Ford and Nissan, throw in Honda if you'll accept AWD over 4wd.

That's it. Everybody else has 4 bangers.

Republicans and Democrats in the House voted for this. Only a few held out and opposed.

But environmental regs aren't adding 8 way power seats, leather, folding mirrors, 360 cameras, etc. That's just the stuff people want.

They want all that crap and then complain about what it cost.

I'm torn on this one. I'm partial to the big three because of where I live, but if China is putting out great inexpensive EVs that are better than anything we have here, doesn't the American consumer deserve to have that choice?

Depends on how free market one truly is.

My 2012 Colorado has a 5 cylinder , 24 mpg, and pretty much matches the specs I wrote. Figure I can get another 4 years on it.

I'm ok with Chinese EVs if they're built here

We build other foreign vehicles here. We're not stopping this China automotive industry from taking off

Let them build factories here and build out charging infrastructure here as well for all I care.

I love this about my Ram Bighorn. I can adjust everything without even taking my eyes off the road. I got my wife a Platinum Armada thinking i'd like all the bells and whistles. It just made me realize i don't want all that in my next truck.

same can be said about all the data centers being installed. I would rather have EV than AI taking over.

I’m willing to bet they were able to ‘improve’ all these EVs because they stole the initial technology from us.

That's the direct cause for half the stuff everybody is complaining about. We need the government less involved, not more.

I'm good with that, but if the car companies get into trouble again like in 2008 -09. Let their asses fail
