The automotive industry is such a mess. Elon has probably figured out that by going full EV it allows him to bypass many of the most burdensome EPA regulations and focus on improving an already reliable platform.
They should make a law that each of the automakers can have a “legacy” vehicle. We don’t have to go back to the 80s emissions or fuel consumption standards to make great vehicles. One vehicle that doesn’t have to make incremental improvements in mpg every other year.
Imagine how reliable a 1994 F150 or a 1999 Jeep grand Cherokee would be if they had been simply ironing out the kinks for the last 30 years. They’d go 300k miles with nothing but oil and brake pads.

I agree. You’d think they’d take their most popular classics and just make an updated model that looks true and keeps things about it people liked. But instead they make a new compact EV and slap the name Mustang on it.
And Rivian and Scout are making great looking vehicles but they don’t have enough capital to compete with the thieving Chinese .

They don't have to make a law, car makers can already do that. The "a" in CAFE stands for average. Sell enough Escorts (or whatever the cheap Ford is these days) and you can also build a Raptor R with 700 hp.

Edit: I read too much into the O0

Upon further review, you are correct.
Screw the auto manufacturers. They all suck.
Let the best car/truck win.
