If we had the fair tax at least the illegals couldn't be freeloaders.

Those groups of raggedy cars and trucks you see hooked together on the interstate being towed back to Mexico.

I've never seen this up here. I guess it's because we are certainly off the beaten path to Mexico? Would be interesting, though, to see them attempt this on I-40 through Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis during rush hour.

well Hank, not every action is driven by racist overtones. The Mexican train issue is real, They are on 59 south out of Houston every day with as many as 4 vehicles hooked together using a combination of dollies and flat tow between vehicles not designed to be towed. No way to stop within any rational requirement, and the tow bars break loose while underway. A typical transit is 3-4 towing units with 2-3 vehicles being towed. They tend to travel together to provide ready road side assistance.

The town of Driscoll, Texas, was taking financial advantage, by stopping and impounding the trains for vehicle violation and then selling off the vehicles. Not a racist ploy as the town of Driscoll is 90% Mexican heritage

Dawg I’m joking. You just had an ironic way of putting it.

I agree with the sentiment that we will pick and choose tiny infractions to charge the mostly law abiding populace with while allowing larger decay with more ramifications to go unchecked.

My FIL has this one story where he was running a shipping company out of Abilene TX 20 years ago and he was taking a country road home and paused instead of stopped at a stop sign at 2 AM. A cop with his lights off turned them on and pulled him over.

He screamed “we’ve had an unsolved murder in our town this year and multiple drug busts and somebody in our neighborhood was burglarized last week but you feel the best use of your resources is busting a farmer at 2AM for rolling though a stop sign a mile out of town?!!”

About 3 miles east of Refugio Texas is a 3 way stop sign in the middle of a ranch where to local and state police set up to nab rolling stop sign vehicles. Occurs 24 hours a day, I have seen state police there at 3 in the morning. You have about a one in eight chance of the intersection being monitored each time you go.

hit up the highway 96 exit just west of Nashville where the old phantom 309 used to be.

Canos opened a food truck in front of an old gas station next to that massive parking lot and Friday nights you'll sometimes see 15-20 Mexican trains parked there. Seems to be a popular place for them to stop and repair shite where no one will bother them.

Then again all of that is probably made up like Hank said.

If someone who appears to be an illegal alien does something that would allow arrest of a citizen, the suspected illegal alien can also be arrested and/or jailed ... and then prosecuted under state law. Asserting otherwise is ill-informed.

You said "can also be arrested", did not the OP say the trooper was told by ICE to let them go, and the Trooper said they cannot process illegals.

Those aren't even "Mexican". Mexico started clamping down on vehicular imports a while back. The people running those chains of vehicles are usually in the business of importing vehicles for a living. And since Mexico only allows one vehicle per individual every 12 months, Mexicans aren't running those trains anymore. Those people are likely headed towards Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras where there are less restrictions.

because there is not sufficient legal cause for an arrest.

For a lawyer, you sure know frick-all about the law. In order to issue a citation, the officer is supposed to have positive identification of the driver. Illegals don't have IDs, so they SHOULD be arrested; however, since most states don't want people arrested for traffic violations, the illegals fall into a gray area. Many jurisdictions have simply decided that it isn't worth the hassle of enforcement, so the illegals are given a pass.

Did you bother to read the Tennessee statute that I posted above?

That is not the law in Tennessee. If a driver provides a name and address (even orally) he will not be arrested for not having a driver's license. He will only receive a citation.

Yes, it is unusual.

As long as the individual gives a name and address to the officer, he just gets a citation.

What if they say they're AggieHank86 and you get picked up on a traffic warrant in 6 months? THAT'S precisely why positive ID is required instead of just taking someone's word for it.

That sort of thing likely happens with some regularity.

It does not change the language of the Tennessee statute. TCA 7-3-505.

Just admit that you didn't bother to read the link, and let's move on, OK?

What is a Mexican train? I've heard of Ferromex which is owned by CPKC but never heard this term.

There is no way to collect a fine from them that goes to our Pension Fund so we are out looking for inspection stickers and speeders.
