This is more than ruining Trump’s legacy and insuring he does not run in 2024. It’s an all out assault on the hearts and minds of the people. But for what? They won.
Some of it is partisanship. I mean, it's not like Trump went quiet about Hilary Clinton after she lost. But this doesn't have much to do with the Democrats, who always are against Trump. He's catching fire from his own side now. And that is entirely about the whole agitating to end American democratic experience in some ill fated coup. People frown on that.

Democrats didn't make couple of cabinet secretaries resign or make McConnell, Cruz, Graham, Thune, and dozens of others speak out after dutifully licking dear Leader's arse for years.

Yet not once did they bring up his failed “impeachment” during the 2020 campaign. In part, I believe they are terrified of the thought of a viable third party. On its face, a fracture of the Republican Party would benefit the Democrats. However, if the Republican Party fractures and a viable segment consolidates, that emboldens the far left socialist/communist to do the same.
Besides a couple of social issues, the GOP and Democratic Parties are for the same cause. Retain power.

They have to crush the idea of Trump. The idea that a political outsider who isn't part of the Country Club can jump the line of both parties and become President. That's all this really is, they want to make it so nobody ever considers even attempting to make a run at a major political office who isn't a part of the team and that goes for both parties, they have been trying to make an example out of him for 4 years and they won't stop until they destroy him so that nobody will consider running from the outside again.
