These reports are dangerous because they could increase the chance of China and/or Russia making a bold military move based on questionable intel. Most major wars are the consequence of miscalculations.

The inventories were not at optimum levels before the Iran Offensive. I have a friend in the War Department who told me that since the Ukraine/Russian war, the military rarely uses live ammunition in training because so much has been shipped to Ukraine.

Sounds like these were new weapons with low inventory. Using them is probably essentially a field trial.

Weren't PRiSMs still pretty much brand new when this started, and so we only had like 80? I would expect those to be running low, that's not shocking news. They're the "low cost" precision strike missile that just came out and can be produced faster than our older more expensive tech. I think production on those has been ramped up by several hundred percent with new facilities and production lines after they've seen them perform in real situations

This is undoubtedly true, but you left off the most urgent matter - that it severely weakens our position against Iran and any negotiations. Suddenly they have reason to believe Trump is "pausing" any escalation because we're running dry, not because he's trying to make peace. They are certainly emboldened by these reports that keep leaking from who knows where.

Why would you be concerned over the ability of the biggest manufacturing economy to produce what is needed when it is needed? In WWII the manufcturing rates for goods of war were staggering compared to what we produce now. So I would have to suggest that the only impediment to producing these things is the internal fights in Congress...
