OK, so let’s use imprecise munitions.

Good thing in the interest of openness, we have individuals in the War Department that leak this stuff.

Maybe the See Eye A is leaking this as to create the notion that the US is weak and is ready to negotiate. That way we can rope a dope them in to killing more.

I've been there. They are ramping up but not seeing anything like a panic. If they've started a second shift it only happened recently and honestly I would say almost certainly not. If you're some form of engineer relevant to missile production, now is your time but you're moving to Arkansas. Now there's new plants for new missiles going in so that's going to skew numbers for "missiles". There are lots of different missiles.

Josh, here is another one.
quote:

The US military has exhausted nearly 80% of its interceptors for a key missile defense system as senior US military commanders are warning that the Pentagon’s munitions stockpile is “dangerously low,” according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

Stockpiles of key air defense systems have been particularly depleted during the war with Iran. The US military has burned through nearly four-fifths of its THAAD missile inventory compared to pre-war numbers and roughly half of its Patriot interceptors since the start of the war, according to two sources familiar with the latest inventory report. The disclosure of the low THAAD inventory has not been previously reported.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies estimates the United States had around 2,200 Patriots (of the platform’s two most-modernized variants) and 452 THAAD missiles in its stockpile before the Iran war started.

Gulf allies have also raised fresh concerns about how a shortage of air defense systems could impact their ability to ward off potential Iranian retaliation if President Donald Trump decides to escalate the ongoing conflict.

Several of those countries rely on US air defense systems and have acknowledged the stockpile shortage could hinder their own ability to intercept incoming Iranian missile and drone attacks – particularly if they are targeted in response to any American escalation, multiple officials said.

L3 Harris has, Lockhead working on it. I don't deal with them directly, but the Secretary of War light a fire under their asses, and Raytheon's, when he visited for another ground breaking ceremony for L3 Harris.

You are correct, no panic. Just steady ramp up..

YES. GD really needs them but they are dragging arse on their new rocket engine programs. You will have to come to south Arkansas, but I know several that have done a few years here and moved on to SpaceX or other sites. Production is consolidating to Camden, between all of them we are probably looking at least 4000 new jobs over the next couple of years. Even that number keeps getting bumped up and golden dome hasn't started yet. Minimum starting pay at Lockheed and L3 is $25/hour. Straight out of high school. If you get retained after 90day probation, most all go up to $30. The more skilled jobs of course go even higher. X-ray techs starting at $40/hr and topping out at $65/hr and about all the overtime your want. Really not hard to make $100k+/year in south Arkansas right now.

I don’t think people realize that the estimate for a hot war with China had us expending all of our interceptors in just a few days if not a single day and that’s with additional surge assets moved into the INDOPAC theatre.

I’ve been harping on it since Trump’s first term that the idea that Trump “rebuilt” the military is a complete joke. Biden worsened it with the Ukraine war and we’ve continued to subsidize that conflict.

The EU was tied down with the Ukraine war. We started the Iran war without NATO/international planning (except our old pals Israel ). Then we seriously asked NATO for help to which they said shove it. We then took defensive assets away from guarding our longstanding allies like Japan and SoKo.

In no way shape or form were we prepared to go into a symmetrical conflict with Iran. Our military and civilian leadership both failed miserably.

We carpet bomb the islands in the straits and I'll bet you're wrong.
I don't even want us to take Kharg. Just turn everything within ten miles of the straits into rubble. Dumb bombs from B-52's. Get rid of all the old shite.

Nah, the bigger issue is the leaks. Without the leaks our enemies would be left to conjecture, and still have to fear our capabilities.
