I’m all for dramatic tax reform and would entertain replacing the income tax with something else entirely. However, does it make sense to tax someone near the poverty line? Especially if that person receives wellfare? That doesn’t seem productive....

One important concept in design is “hierarchy”. You don’t want to make the scoreboard so large relative to the stadium that it becomes the primary element....
I wonder how much of this is due to having a mobilized war economy. Also, how much debt will russia have to get into to make it through the war and return to a post-war economy once things settle down....
