Looks like he was addressing individuals there.
He never preached to governments.
He never preached to governments.

Catholics are pro-life from conception to natural death. Picking and choosing which Catholic doctrine you find palatable is you not actually being Catholic.

I was thinking Leo should keep up the good work he’s doing denouncing immigrant crime throughout Europe.

Any Catholic teaching on the death penalty is fallible and subject to question. If it were infallible, then the previous teachings approving of the death penalty could never have been altered due to their infallibility.

The quotation marks on Pope are not necessary.
Whether you agree with him or not, he is the Pope.
Whether you agree with him or not, he is the Pope.

1) I truly feel sorry for you if you really believe the Catholic Church is your savior. Ever heard of Jesus?
2) Your "Church" has been hijacked and you are obviously completely blind to that fact. The last 2 "popes" have been nothing but Globalist-installed puppets.

Yes.
But here he is speaking against a government policy he doesn’t agree with.
I would like him to address the individual people of America and tell them to follow Jesus. Tell the Muslims, the atheists, the Hindus, every individual.
If successful, the policy will solve itself.
But that would take an act of bravery on his part, especially messaging Muslims. Recent Popes have been scared to directly tell them they are wrong.

It’s literally in the Catechism of the Church. Did anyone think Leo would contradict church teaching?
Prots are obsessed with the Catholic Church.

Catholics don't condone the death penalty
Did you expect the Pope to come out in support of it just because you like Trump or something?

“The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person,” Leo, who is the first pope from the United States, wrote on X on Saturday.
Cool, he can pay to house this guy the rest of his natural life.
When can we arrange the flight?

I expected the Pope to keep his mouth shut. This is a state matter, not a religious one.

Our God is a god of the individual.
Funny how that doesn't stop republicans from trying to shoe horn Christianity into government at all costs.

Since Jesus never preached to governments, how does anyone square that with the whole "we're a Christian country" thing? Sounds like we have no right to ban drag queen story time or big gay dildo parades?
Not only that, people acting like Leo or Francis are the first popes to move away from the death penalty are sorely mistaken:
Benedict:
quote:
“I draw the attention of society’s leaders to the need to make every effort to eliminate the death penalty”.
“I express my hope that your deliberations will encourage the political and legislative initiatives being promoted in a growing number of countries to eliminate the death penalty and to continue the substantive progress made in conforming penal law both to the human dignity of prisoners and the effective maintenance of public order.”
JPII:
quote:
“It is clear that…[punishment] ought not go to the extreme of executing the offender except in cases of absolute necessity: in other words, when it would not be possible otherwise to defend society”. And “as a result of steady improvements in the organization of the penal system, such cases are very rare, if not practically non-existent.”
Even before John Paul II, Paul VI removed the death penalty as an option in Vatican City and asked Francoist Spain not to put their prisoners to death.

Catholicism is one big front for Homosexuality and Illegal Immigration. I don’t see how it has any parishioners left at this point. They must be brainwashed or something.

What absolute nonsense is this? My savior is Jesus Christ. Most certainly not the Catholic Church. If yours is the Catholic Church… you need to reevaluate your salvation.

God has no problem with the death penalty. See Revelation. It will continue in the Millennium Kingdom. It will done justly and righteously.
This is a fine case for.capital punishment.

Because usually (not always) the priest/pastor is reflective of the congregation (i.e., if congregation is conservative the priest tends to be). A lot of RCs (and a decent number of priests] do not align with the Vatican.
A schism is coming.
