The public didn't elect him. His colleagues did and they know him very well. Very few members of the House are known to the public at large.

My point is that you, LSURussian, had never heard of Kevin McCarthy until he became speaker. I'm asking you to prove that you were aware of his existence before he became speaker, and am willing to lose a bet with you, because I don't think you can. I am doing so to illustrate that the biggest knock you can muster so far against the new speaker is not a knock at all, but instead a slightly sandy vagina.
