Correct. But it's covered through every HMO or PPO plan offered through every Hospital I worked at for 20 years in case of the super rare instance you need it.

I mean, that would sort of make complete sense from a purely actuarial perspective.

I haven’t read the whole thread. It looks like this thing exploded in the air. Is there any chance it was shot down?

Yeah, that's the life flight helicopter. You are NOT getting transported from Phoenix to Denver on a Lear jet through your health insurance.

So it was an Angel Flight. That makes it feel so much worse.

It’s covered when they say it’s covered and they never say it’s covered so is it really covered?
They don’t even like to cover emergency helicopter flights 150 miles to level 1 trauma center so they damn sure aren’t paying for you to jet across the country.

Some plans will, if you are stuck in a hospital away from home, fly you back to the hospital closest to your home. But that is only when you are stable and certainly not escorted by two doctors. BCBS of AL offers it on better plans but they are one of the few in the country, if not the only ones. And that is because AirMed is based in Birmingham.

I suppose it’s possible your hospitals had rock star coverage but I can tell you it is far from normal.

Its covered. I thought you were self employed? You are not going to be offered the better health coverage for cheaper rates that large hospital systems or large corporations are able to negotiate with Health Insurers

HMO or PPO plan

I seriously doubt you can find an HMO plan that covers it. They have limited access. You can purchase emergency plans that cover flights. Anyway looks like it was a charity flight. So there u go.

The little girl was at Shriners childrens hospital in Philly for a lifesaving procedure. They were headed to fuel in Missouri, then to Tiajuana Mexico.

So fricking sad... Just like the US Skiers.

That picture of all of them together the day of the flight is heartbreaking.

Oxygen cylinders that were on board the crashed plane in Philadelphia could have caused the crash, Fox News correspondent Rich Zeoli suggested, citing sources.

"As we understand it, it is very possible that, since this is a medical aircraft, oxygen and... fuel could have provoked such a powerful explosion. Maybe it could give an explanation for this (catastrophe)," the correspondent said.

That's so crazy to picture. That's like something out of the movies

Because it's not possible. The medical o2 cylinders are small with integrated flowmeters built it. It's not a welding shop...it's an ambulance. Ffs

Ffs, this an ambulance explosion cause from an o2 cylinder.

Some high level plans cover it domestically but certainly not internationally, unless you are flying for work.

Our plan covers us being returned home if abroad and have a medical emergency.

Area of impact covered 4 to 6 blocks.

Philadelphia’s mayor says one person on the ground was killed and 19 were injured when an air ambulance crashed to the ground in a city neighborhood on Friday night.

Wondering if they may have had an Apollo 8 or Valujet type incident with an uncontrolled O2 fire in the cabin. Valujet crash in the Everglades had a similar profile. The Ring camera with the bald guy shows something cooking off and launching itself. May have been the O2 can found some distance away.
