350 out of 350 -- Interesting! The official CDC data shows only 295 recoveries and 553 deaths in the entire nation ???

I didn’t see the piece on TV and there was not an available link, but that’s good to hear that symptoms appear to abate with treatment. The key to me is that if there is little risk of harm, let the treatments rip.

That’s encouraging but with a mortality rate of about 1%, you’re still dealing with small numbers from which to draw conclusions.

Im not sure where you learnt the maths, but even using your 1% (which this virus will be far less than) there should be 4 bodies on the floor, right?

Unless this drug is actually working? Phenomenally? As we heard it has in 6 other countries.

He said he treats early. The French may have waited too long and the death and ICU were not the fault if the drug.

So he got 350 coronavirus patients and not one of them came to him with a serious illness already? Did he say anywhere that these 350 patients actually tested positive for coronavirus? Or is he just treating everyone who he suspects might have it?

Many doctors must think it will work because in NC it is now an issue and an investigation may follow after the article below came out.

quote:

The North Carolina Board of Nursing says reports are circulating of physicians prescribing hydroxychloroquine, chloroquine, azithromycin and other medications "often in large quantities with a high number of refills" for themselves and family members amid the coronavirus outbreak. The drugs are being investigated as treatments for COVID-19, the illness associated with the virus.

"Board staff and public health officials are aware that some prescription drug wholesalers are reporting shortages of these drugs," the nursing board said in a statement posted online. "Pharmacists are reminded of their ability to refuse to fill prescriptions that, in the pharmacist’s professional judgment, are not clinically appropriate."

This cocktail is now standard of care in the real world due to the benefit/risk ratio. Data is imperative, but in the meantime..

Below is the link to an abstract published that shows the pre-clinical rationale for using Hydroxychloroquine. It was done in China, in a Beijing Hospital, but it was also supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which does provide a bit of credibility.
Bottom line, their dosing recs for Hydroxychloriquine are loading dose of 400mg BID on Day 1 and then 200mg BID for 4 days.

Also, Hydroxychloroquine is less toxic than chloroquine. And yes these drugs carry side effects, but remember, for Malaria they are often used long term. This is a short course of 5 days being proposed. i do not know what the NY Doctor uses as he didn't say in his video.

Further, a French team with INSERM has an open label trial in press, but the PDF is below. Hydroxychloriquine startes to clear virus in some patients in as soon as 3 days. They show hydroxychloriquine and the antibiotic azithromax may be synergistic in decreasing viral load and duration.

Checks out, they both have some anti inflammatory effects as well as chloro’s immunosuppressive effects.

The way I heard it explained was the pneumonia is mostly a result of the nasty effects of the immune response in the lungs. I mean even if it doesn’t really kill the virus it’s still worth it as a supportive measure, and to calm your immune system down enough to attack the virus and not you.

I don’t know how many people he has actually treated but I do like his idea of trying it on the medium to high risk patients as early as possible. Hope this pans out.

It's amazing how all the people pushing doom and gloom the most are also the same ones that say we need to be hesitant about pushing a potential treatment. I wonder why that is.
