Or they could just quit wasting money and reevaluate the situation.

And another thing, so many libraries have been closed since the summer. The library system is actually funded so fix the fricking HVAC or whatever is causing so many branches to remain closed. The one closest to my house has been closed and so has the branch in Lakeview, among others. The people at the Mid-City branch are rude.

They should cut NORD funding because all the booster clubs have to fund themselves and pay for their own playground/park maintenance. NORD money just pays salaries for welfare queens.

It’s classic liberal death spiral

Run off the wealthy by
1. minimizing police and
2. vilifying the wealthy as evil.

I wonder how many useless jobs are on the payroll? How much dead weight? How much graft and grift?

Do you know what’s going on with jd carrere? I saw some vague posts about him being paid to campaign for Helena but he blocked me and the posts I saw were, like I said, vague and I don’t really trust the sources

This is all to lay the groundwork for the city to lay off a pretty big number of people

I just wonder if they’re making the firing decisions based on race, or gender…

I asked what I thought were simple questions. Maybe try answering them.

I noticed a huge chunk of hotel taxes, 150 million go to a state entity that runs the superdome, convention center etc.

The saints dont pay rent at the dome but the state does get a chunk of change off concessions and money when other entities use it. And all conventions pay. How do you still have to throw 150 million annually in for "operating expenses".

I and the people in my neighborhood pay plenty in taxes. I want efficiency, but I also want the services that a municipal government is supposed to provide. In a city with a centuries old infrastructure, it’s not always easy…

A LOT of details were released about him and his grifts about a year ago. He's a POS grifter and friend or customer of the current mayor (and probably the last mayor, too). I haven't heard much about him lately. I'm sure he's still cashing checks, though.

The crook tax assessor increased property values just a year or two ago for everyone that isn't related to him. Or sitting on City Council. Hey Mayor, don't pay your buddy Joe G $300,000 to be CAO. Let's start there. ETA: Reminding everyone that our trash service was already cut 50% after Ida with no service cost reduction.

Dont you have a recent thread on here where you are sobbing over the state cutting a redundant clerk position and consolidating that into one position? Where that action of consolidation will now save the city over 5 million dollars?

That you?

Pretty much the status quo for a municipality under continuous Democrat control.

Get rid of those dead weight in departments, DEI useless positions. Repair things correctly and hold contractors accountable. If you are repairing broken pipes on the same streets over and over then replace them all at once. The outright waste, corruption is systemic throughout the entire city employees

I have a problem with the State interfering with local elections.

You would rather pay for elections and then pay legislators to render the election taxes just paid for obsolete only to continue paying for both Clerk's physical offices to remain opened and staff to remain employed. That's your way of promoting small-government efficiency and you are entitled to live out your delusions while I continue to value democratic governance and a limited executive branch of every level of government.

Were did you come up with the $5MM figure? I know that wasn't the salary of the office holder so where exactly are these savings coming from?
