I have a problem with the State interfering with local elections.
Well they didn't do that at all. The election was just fine. It was the wasteful office that was eliminated. One that is not needed.
quote:
You would rather pay for elections and then pay legislators to render the election taxes just paid for obsolete only to continue paying for both Clerk's physical offices to remain opened and staff to remain employed. That's your way of promoting small-government efficiency and you are entitled to live out your delusions while I continue to value democratic governance and a limited executive branch of every level of government.
So in this thread you are whining about libraries closing....... and now you are whining about a redundant position that was sucking funds that could have been used for libraries being eliminated..... all while not wanting tax increases. And you keep calling yourself the "reasonable" poster.

Were did you come up with the $5MM figure? I know that wasn't the salary of the office holder so where exactly are these savings coming from?
Do you think the office of criminal clerk worked on a card table in the corner of some building with an office shared with someone else? And borrowed a single legal pad from someone's supply closet?
The big picture: The Moreno administration proposes eliminating the Orleans Parish criminal clerk's budget of $5.62 million in 2027.

Name the programs and services. They are covering it up intentionally.

You're not good understanding what you read, and you clearly aren't familiar with any of this.
How much money was actually saved by consolidating the clerks?
quote:So you're contradicting your own previous claim that $5MM was saved when the legislature settled Landry's petty political score.

What?

It doesn't matter if it was 5 million or 500 thousand total. If one can do the job.. and it saves the city money... YOU CUT THE WASTE. The work is still done in one office that already exists. There wasn't a new office created.
Is this basic thing really difficult to comprehend?
What's absolutely amazing is that the bottom line in all of this is... there was a black former prisoner that got this position and you were over the moon about it..... to the point where you would want 5.6 million dollars of city taxpayer money to keep this office going for this one individual. It's your advocacy that is the forefront of all this crying. Everyone here sees through it. Deny it all you want. Don't care. We know.

It's pretty funny that you seem to be mad that I'm criticizing the mayor.
Not that I'm trying to, but I can't win with you people.

I'm not mad you are critical of the mayor. Where did I say that?
I'm astounded that you can spend a week advocating for a redundant municipal clerk position.. want it fully funded... then today begin complaining about lack of funds to keep libraries open... while not wanting any tax increases.
THAT is what blows my mind.

What? The city CUT 5.6 million from an office that no longer exists. What part of this are you struggling with?
This is a proposal. Look up the definition of "proposal," darling. The legislature abolished the position of "clerk of criminal court" while the office remains open and staff remains employed. That's the efficiency you are so proud of.

You're mad that after criticizing Landry and the state legislature, I'm now criticizing Helena Moreno and City Council. Why does that bother you?

Trash is one of those things that could easily be done by a private company, but in a city as ghetto as NO, most residents would choose to leave their trash on the street instead of paying for it to be removed.

You've hijacked this thread because why? And then you have the nerve to accuse me of sobbing about something that you won't shut up about.

If you have no idea about something, just don't post. Private companies have picked up trash in New Orleans for decades.

The proposal goes into the next fiscal year budgeting. Good job. You at least understand that you cannot simply just add and subtract funds at will in governmental accounting.

An overreach of the executive in the state would be quelled by the courts and appellate process. Is there any news on that?

Did you just use the term "your fake news" in your last post referring to me? Then I'm sure you will have zero issues pointing to where I'm critical of you criticizing the mayor of New Orleans and the council. Aaannnnnddddddd GO!

Could someone please tell what CAO, Community Services, Community Development, NOBC, Workforce Investment and OTHER Agencies are?
Posted on 10/15/26 at 4:38 pm to Major Dutch Schaefer
They will do BOTH and fail miserably.
Posted on 10/15/26 at 4:53 pm to Bayou Warrior 64
First thing they need to do is threaten to cut off all essential services down to the bone in order to protect the nonessential services from being cut and then increase all fees and taxes to help restore their master plan of order in the CityofNO.
Second thing they need to do is erect a piece of art somewhere celebrating their achievements.
Third thing is hand out Keys to the CityofNO to our best and brightest citizens.
