I figure the less info about the shooter, the less likely he/she is to be martyrized like the Columbine Killers or Elliot Rodger.
I guess I am ok withholding info for a while and even then not overly publicizing their intent.

I always thought that the delay was to give them time to scrub the perps indentity and post history. It is a concerted attempt to sheild these people.
