By going after the retailers that sell them, not the people using them illegally

This is hilarious. Who the hell voted for him? the young voters and immigrants. Who the hell is buying riding these illegal e-bikes? the young voters and immigrants...
My daughter lives in NYC. E-bikes are lifestyle changers for these people who already are bitching about affordability.

NYC is one step closer to this

Big Tish waiting her turn so she can blame Trump for E-Bikes.
Because they don't arrest anyone for crimes .

Did your daughter vote for him?
fricking parking spots go for about 3k per year, and traffic can't be fixed there. Bikes are exactly what helps alleviate those problems.
Guy is a fricking moron. Get ready, hes gonna try and take over the paid parking spots, just watch

I think you are mischaracterizing what is going on.
There are specific laws in NYC regarding e-bikes, scooters and mopeds limiting power/weight/speed etc. They predated Mamdani. Vehicles that don't meet the laws to be used on public roads are illegal to sell in NYC. This is just enforcing that law on the etailers shipping into NYC.
I don't see anything communist about this.
You can argue they should not be able to limit the power/weight/VIN of these vehicles on their roads.
You can argue they shouldn't be able to limit their sale within NYC.
Both of those predated Mamdani.
You can argue that they should not be able to limit internet sales and shipping into NYC. That is all on Mamdani, but I don't see enforcing laws as communist.
This is due to public outcry over people dying from scooters that go up to 75 mph that have killed people.

I'd love to hear how you plan on catching them?
Do tell boomer, do tell. I guess back in your day you'd chase em down on foot, in the snow, at 25mph.

Posted on 8/6/26 at 12:42 pm to Fun Bunch
Isn’t this a key mode of transportation for poorer people?
I guess they will be forced to risk being stabbed on the subway.

Explain how the laws that predated Mamdani or his enforcement action is a tenet of communism.
It is fine to argue that you disagree with the previous laws or that his enforcement plan is wrong.
Everyone is saying this is bad, just not making a cogent argument why. The latter is important.

I see the points you've made.
But... I think the point of this thread is that ComDani is going after retailers rather than those that are actually cycling afoul of the law.
The people in possession of these illegal modes of transportation are the ones to go after- not retailers.

He’s not enforcing the law. There’s no law saying you can’t buy an electric bike in New York City.

What a commie. Ebikes just need to be told to stop at stop signs.

Boy Toy Bonta banned the illegal ones being sold in Kommiefornia via Amazon.
