And as we discussed above, he sure was quick to defend the shooting. He indeed collected his wits quickly after watching a man he didn’t know was armed shoot down another man in broad daylight with no more compunction than if he was shooting a rabid dog.

The station is NOT saying Dolloff and the reporter were not together. It is saying that they did not know Dolloff was armed.

I do not believe that Newman stopped recording during the altercation. He was recording with one or both of the phones in his hands, correct? Newman is not visible the entire time in video/photos but from what I have seen, he's looking at Keltner the entire time. I never see him glance down at either phone to stop/start recording. Besides just being highly unlikely that a reporter would stop recording in the middle of a heated exchange, it also seems difficult to hit the stop/start recording button on a phone as you're being jostled by the other two men.
