We'll probably never know if they do have the capability for a long time. NSA probably does already.
Just because they may have the ability doesn't mean they'll take information gathered through this to court. They can use gathered information to know where to go look and keep the ability of back door information under wraps for a long time.

Didn’t Discord put out a press release stating the assassin did not use Discord to plan/discuss the plan?

I'm old and outside of this message board the only Internet chat sites/tools I've ever used were way back in the day (irc, icq, etc.).

Does all discord traffic run through the company's site? I was under the impression that you could create a locally hosted discord server and run it off of your own machine - like how we used to run locally hosted Quake servers.

The NY Post had an article about Kash's appearance which said the following:

quote:

“His family has collectively told investigators that he subscribed to left-wing ideology and even more so in these last couple of years,” Patel said, adding that authorities have seen evidence of a “text message exchange” between Robinson and a second individual.

Weirdo suspect may have assassinated Kirk as an act of love to his He/She lover. Straight out of Taxi Driver and John Hinkley attempt on Regan. Just throwing out there to add more chaos, see how fast this comes back.

You’re a few days late in stating the obvious, but you get a pass.

Why would someone planning to kill another human being write down his plan? Did he and his roommate not talk to each other?

It just seems strange to me.

"Hey roomie. Running some errands. Let me know if you want me to pick up sushi for dinner. OBTW, I have an opportunity to kill Charlie Kirk, and I'm gonna do it. Love you my furry pillow pet. - - Tyler."

They did, but the roommate said he sent messages about a drop point for the rifle among other things. So mixed signals there.

He probably wrote the not from a notebook, and the actual note was destroyed by someone, but they were able to pull indentations from the pen from the page below.

The boyfriend angle is going to be interesting.

- Several accounts are that the boyfriend was an awful extremist type (not surprising) and would insinuate contributed to the continued radicalization of the assassin.

- But now the boyfriend is assisting the investigation.

This just gives me the "vibes" of one of those viral bf/gf situations where the young gf knowingly, intentionally pushes the bf to suicide and then claims victimhood/no knowledge, etc.

If he sat around with the assassin all day talking about trans genocide and all the terrible things Kirk was doing to dehumanize and endanger "trans people", etc., but never actually asked/told/helped the assassin do it....like I said, interesting.

Suspect wrote a note saying 'I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I am going to take it.'

So unless someone other than the partner had access to the home, either the killer or his partner destroyed it. If the killer didn't destroy it, that leaves the partner, who had to know about it, unless he found it after the fact. My question is why would he write it and then destroy it. He obviously wanted someone (the partner) to see it.

Being that the shooter is still alive and uncooperative, should they have the right to extract information using any means available? Or does he have protected rights? We know the answer but in this one case, I would be willing to throw that out the window.

very likely. That's why I use crayons... and single-use ciphers.

Its weird they went through the effort of burning a note to avoid wiretaps and mics on phones but then went on discord and joked about the shooting as it was going down

After Mr. Robinson joked that the gunman was his look-alike, another user suggested that the group could turn Mr. Robinson in and get the $100,000 reward that the F.B.I. was offering.

“O“Only if I get a cut,” Mr. Robinson responded.

Someone posted, “Whatever you do, don’t go to a mcdonalds anytime soon,” a reference to the arrest of Luigi Mangione, who was found at a McDonald’s restaurant and charged with the killing of a health insurance chief executive in Manhattan.

Mr. Robinson agreed and offered a supposed joke of his own, writing “better also get rid of this manifesto and exact copy rifle I have lying around.”

When another user suggested that the killing of Mr. Kirk would lead President Trump to send the National Guard to Utah, the suspect replied, “in a red state??? nah CLEARLY the shooter was from california.”

The shooter wrote it, the boyfriend or someone else saw it and then either the shooter or someone else destroyed it

If it is the second one, then someone knew about it before hand and at least decided not to call the cops about it, and may have destroyed evidence.
the scenario here that makes sense is the killer wrote it on the pad of paper. The he/she read it, tore it off, and destroyed it, and the FBI retrieved it from the indentations in the paper below it or sometime else forensic . So either the roommate saw the note and knew about the assassination beforehand and didn't report it, or he saw the note after and destroyed evidence. Since every other tranny on the Internet seemed to know about it my vote is on the first one

To get convictions as and accessory before the murder I would think that they are going to have to uncover communication of others helping to plan it out and things like arrangements to drive the shooter, supply the gun etc.!

Destroying evidence is another issue and it sounds like this angle will almost surely result in some arrest.
