The decline seems to be caused by an overall short term gain mentality and lack of respect for the institutions that got us to where we are. It's the cycle of empire. Those at the end forget what it took to make the nation great and are just trying to "get mine".

There's no more sin nor immortality in 2021 than 1781. It's just out in the open.

People do what people do. They always have and always will.

Yes, I believe so. And this was known from the beginning of the republic.

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

We’re just following along the Tytler cycle.

As Tytler said:
quote:

A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.

It’s just greed at every level of government and the public. Totally human nature. Next stop: Collapse & Dictatorship. Save for any small groups who decide to form a new nation.

It's the absence of Christianity in people's lives. They pulled it from school and it's been down hill ever since

Yep.

They need to adhere to the mediatorial kingship of Christ and submit to Him.

Greed

Sloth

Envy

Pride

Wrath

Gluttony

Lust

Seems to hit the mark on all counts. Where have I seen that list before?

The root of America's decline is progressive left ideology. Seeing that is synonymous with sin and immorality the answer to the OP's question has to be yes

This problem is not unique to the United States. I do agree that we should always strive to do better.

That’s the progressive’s list of necessary qualities. They embody every single one of those.

Greed - I deserve everything I haven’t earned

Sloth - I shouldn’t have to work or try hard to be successful

Envy - If someone other than me has something they are evil

Pride - I am the greatest and the most important because I say so and no one can change my mind

Wrath - if you disagree with me you will be destroyed

Gluttony - I never have enough to be satisfied and I never will. Give me more.

Lust - look at the porn and social media state of this country. Everything is sexualized. Even children.

Absolutely.

These are biblically warned of time when people are more motivated by personal sexual pleasure, raw political power, and financial success than they are by any moral or ethical standard.

To them “sins” are more any obstacle to their desires than they are any moral code

Their “do unto others “ ethos is replaced by “any means necessary”. A “sin” to them is not taking advantage of lies. Duplicity. Fraud. Deflection. Or Sedition.

And the controlling driver behind all this evil is very patient = decades and centuries are more moments. —— the devil himself.

I had premonitions of this peril back in the 60s with the ”sexual revolution”. Then came the welfare state. The abortion

Bass,

My take: “New Atheism” did a number on Americans from 2000 to 2015 leading many to believe that there is no meaning or purpose to life.

The Christian narrative, which is full of meaning and significance, was replaced by nothingness.

Social Justice is now filling that void, but the war is just beginning!

Moral relativism.

And unchecked pleasure seeking. Those lead to sin and immorality. We will do anything to "feel good," and we are building a system that not only allows it, but encourages it.
