Li recalled that former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Harris had been floated as possible replacements for Biden before Biden announced his decision to step down.
According to Li, Harris was at the bottom of the group.
"Kamala Harris came in dead last. It wasn't even close. Pete Buttigieg, who hilariously received 0% support from the Black vote, did better than she did. And yet the party is so straitjacketed by DEI that they had no choice but to appoint her," Li said.
As a top fundraiser for both Biden and Harris, Li worked closely with top donors, high-profile members of the party and the Democratic National Committee (DNC). She recalled how the polling was guarded closely, but that it circulated among the party’s leading operatives and fundraisers like herself.

In addition to being the vice president and an obvious replacement consideration for Biden, Li recalled that Kamala had devoted followers who would make it painful to explore other options.
"People were terrified of the online mob. The K-Hive isn’t that numerous, but they’re very, very toxic and they’re very coordinated. No one wants to be labeled as a racist," Li said, referring to the nickname for Harris’ supporters.

I seem to remember Harris got less than 2% of the vote in the Democrat primaries before she dropped out.

My theory was they knew this and chose her as a sacrificial lamb to kill her moving forward.
She's not just unlikeable to voters, she's a total B and not liked by many in the party. The election was terrible and lots of big money donors flipped to Trump due to her toxicity.
The fact that she's still live for 2028 is insane.

She is simply the sacrificial lamb without cost to the party of their players the party feels might have a future. When the coast clears in 50 years, maybe a grandson of George W. Bush or son of Marco Rubio runs for the dem ticket.

They had no intention of running Harris when they initiated the virtual assassination of Biden by having a debate in freaking June which had never been done and made no sense. It was a hit.
Jill Biden fricked them back when she had whoever managed Biden twitter to hastily tweet out his absolute endorsement of her.
It's obvious Obama and company had planned to have some kind of fake rushed democratic process choose the candidate who absolutely would not have been Kamala Harris.

I’d lean toward the donors being unwilling to pony up a lot more money considering that they had already given to Biden-Harris and that money would have gone away if Harris wasn’t still on the ticket.

She was a sacrificial lamb. The Dems knew if they thrusted someone else ahead of her, they’d piss off several segments of their base.
And DeSantis had just a couple months prior thrashed their only legit bench player at the time in a debate, Gavin Newsom.
So they offered her up for “her turn”, gives them an excuse to not ever let her be the nominee again, and they’d spend the next four years raising money from folks outraged at Trump’s second term.

Even without seeing the polls, I the voters in general knew this was the case from the jump. There would have been massive uproar from progressives and ALL women had she not gotten "her turn".

Like I said at the time, they were trapped. She was picked to be VP because Obama wanted another puppet to control but when Biden was brushed aside, they had to run her. They couldn't pass over the first black, female VP no matter who they got, even if it was another black female like Michelle.

You think Dems knew they couldn't beat Trump regardless of candidate?
It was obvious that the Dems wanted to get rid of Biden because they scheduled that debate MONTHS earlier than previous presidential debates. Seems like they would have had a viable Dem replacement in mind.

Looks like the Republicans have shat away whatever chance they had in these primaries as well as the general in '28. Trump should never be allowed to appoint any government positions.

Kama-lama-ding-dong had fallen to 2% in the polls.
She never made it to the first primary. She officially withdrew from the race on 12/3/19.
