If China is such a threat, why are we doing business with them?

If China is at the door to knocking us off then why are our companies still allowed to pump money into the Chinese economy?
Is it possible that China is just the latest in a long string of boogeymen promoted by the US Government?

Should have started decoupling long ago.

Instead of leaving it to all of us to prove China is or isn’t a threat. Why don’t you just fill us in with your expert knowledge on why China is or isn’t a threat?

Are you saying China isn’t a threat?

Because we have to.
Do you know what would happen to Walmart without China ?

Both countries need one another to survive. We can never go to war or be at odds with each other, otherwise things would go very bad for both of us.

I suspect the threat is overblown and conveniently tossed out there anytime Fedgov wants to spend money or restrict our freedoms, but I’m no expert.
Fedgov created the China that we are dealing with today.

The United States voluntarily chose to enter into this arrangement to reduce labor costs. We have no one to blame but our government and companies.

Why do you think this administration is making the push for manufacturing here? Our dependency on their cheaply made products was/is a problem.

Well sure. The two super powers going to war would flip the world upside down. Neither side wants that. The problem is chinas long term plan for domination and need for democracy to go the way of the Dodo bird. Setting this country up to be self sufficient is the priority.

This board swore everything Trump did was 4D chess against China, then he went over there, sucked Xi off and accomplished nothing.

There are some "special" comments on this board sometimes. We've been the global hegemon for the last 80 years. It's good to be the hegemon. We've set the world's financial policy and the world runs on the dollar, which is why we have the largest GDP in the world and are number 10 in GDP per capita, with the other 9 being little niche chickenshit countries.
China wants this and wants the world to run on the yen and Mandarin to replace English. There will always be others trying to be the hegemon.

We shouldn’t be letting them send their citizens over here

“We” do not have all economic choices dictated from the executive branch of government. That is communism.
Edit: some in this thread obviously do not know the basics. (Shouldn’t pick on OP).

Apparently we cant out compete them in trade, hard work, and capitalism, so instead we have to try to peepee in their boba.

Who said anything about the Executive branch?
I assume you are aware that US Government has a trade embargo with Cuba going back 60+ years?

China is a threat to the U.S. Empire for sure, but not necessarily the American people. And there is a huge difference between the two.
The biggest threat to us currently is our political and banking class pissing away American blood and treasure on useless exercises in nation building and social engineering while simultaneously sapping productivity. Notice how no one ever talks about the national debt anymore. It’s at $35T+ and as it starts to snowball, so will the effects of inflation.
