How upset should NYC be if they foot the bill for Taylor Swift's $160K wedding security?

The debate surrounding the $160,000 security tab highlights a few key points:
The Funding DebateThe Taxpayer Argument: Historically, public safety coverage for massive, high-profile events in Manhattan is funded by taxpayers. Because the wedding forces major street closures and crowd control management around Penn Station, the city often deploys resources as a matter of public safety.
The Call for Reimbursement: Local politicians, including U.S. Representative Nicole Malliotakis, have publicly demanded that Swift and Kelce reimburse the NYPD. Critics argue that taxpayers should not be on the hook for a multi-million dollar private celebrity event, especially during a busy holiday weekend.
Private Paid Details: The NYPD does have a "Paid Detail" program where private entities can hire off-duty officers for security. However, city officials and the NYPD Commissioner have remained largely silent on whether this specific deployment is being billed back to the couple

Security is reportedly becoming one of the biggest expenses tied to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding. Beyond the lavish venue and décor, a new report claims policing alone could cost more than $160,000. The NYPD, per the source, is preparing to deploy dozens of detectives and officers across two Madison Square Garden events to help manage the expected crowds.

Mamdani raided the pension coffers just to balance the budget this year. Imagine your pension not being paid in a few years when NYC is bankrupt but at least you helped pay for a billionaire's wedding while you were sweating in your house with the temp set at 78.
Do you think they will set the thermostat at 78 in MSG for the wedding?

She’s a vocal lefty. The city is paying that bill whether the taxpayers like it or not. Those dumbasses just may want it that way.

Why on earth would Taylor Swift get married in Madison Square Garden? Last I read she told guests in invites to meet in NYC and then go from there?
If MSG is the venue. Who does she think she is? She has the money to marry anywhere in the world.

Of course not. 78 is for the peasants.

What a gay event it will be for the beard.

They could probably just ask Swift for the money and she’d give it to them. It would be like asking me for five bucks.

That would actually be humorous with the radical Left’s railing on about billionaires all the time.

I feel better with the escalator off. They scare me.
I tripped on one once and fell down the stairs for an hour.

I’m sick of hearing about that bitch
She’s not a musician or singer, she’s an overly-commercialized corporate entertainer for the masses

I don’t understand why all the road closures and extra security are needed. MSG is a major venue hosting events on a weekly basis with 10 times the amount of people (or more) that will be at this wedding.
And major stars too. Just at the Knicks playoffs recently, Swift was there with dozens of ultra famous celebrities.
Seems unnecessary.

Slight hijack - I wonder how much it cost to have those signs printed
They could have printed “escalator closed” on white copy paper & it would have served the same purpose

$160k is a drop in the bucket for NYC.
But the principle is should the public pay for such things?
I would say no but the citizens of NYC voted for this.
I say go for it. Spend these idiots' money.
