Just got an email from him. He outlines the usual 'tax the rich' stuff. I didn't know the rich weren't paying taxes. But the unique item was the inheritance angle:
quote:

Rewrite our inheritance rules. If we do not act, that transfer of wealth among the ultra-wealthy will lock in a permanent American aristocracy of inherited wealth, with all the political consequences the founders warned us about.

"Rewrite' isn't very specific but I'd love for a reporter to ask him what percentage of the inheritance should be taxed. And I don't think the founders advocated taxing inheritance.

If this isn’t federal, all it will do is just chase money from California and/or make attorneys a shite ton of money for setting up trusts to circumvent this shite.

Sooooooooooooooo, this meatbag thinks families should be discouraged from passing their wealth on to their own children, but has no problem funneling more of it to the government instead?

We don't hate these pieces of shite enough.

Aunt Nancy and uncle "Hammerhead Paul" Pelosi have a bunch of inheritance $ for him to go after.

I love how they "other" and demonize anyone who works hard and earns success.

Gavin trying to invoke “the founders” on any subject is absurd to the point of being comical.

That is an insane stat.

Just saw this on Forbes about the top 5% of US wealth
quote:

Joining the top 1% requires a net worth of $11.6 million to $13.7 million, a slight dip from 2024 peaks due to market declines but still among the highest in history. For the top 5%, a net worth of $1.17 million to $2.7 million secures your spot, while the top 10% requires between $970,900 and $1.9 million. If you are aspiring to the top 25%, you’ll need roughly $340,000 to $500,000,

Make no mistake, taxing the value of your 401k is on the table as well.

Unless the kids are also successful, most of that wealth gets dissipated in 3 generations.

Given the cost of living and taxes in NYC, $200k income will probably get turned down when trying to buy a co-op.

There is also the linkage of IQ. If you make a billion dollars you are probably very smart. That means your kids inherited higher IQs than most which increases the chance of their making big money. The reason some kids of the rich become failures is because of bad decisions. The same reason kids of the poor can move up because they make good decisions.

Exactly. Billionaires employ people much smarter than Gavin Newsom to find and exploit every single tax loophole.

That’s not really the way it works. For millionaires? Sure. But billionaires pay politicians to create the loopholes they’ll exploit.
