I'm sure people in Chalmette and Arabi are all for it, especially if traffic diverts before Paris Road.
It'll just be the idiot down-the-roaders who don't know any better that are affected, right?
Kind of... you'd be hard-pressed to find many residents for it. Every politician t...
Seems a Violet loop linking to the base of the bridge and Paris Rd is a more viable alternative than a whole new highway from I-10 to violet.
This is essentially what they're proposing now. They wanted an I-10 to Violet road originally but now they're pushing a 510 to Violet elevat...
There’s obviously room for compromise though. It just seems like the residents of St. Bernard have dug their heels in on this and aren’t willing to listen to any sort of compromise.
There hasn't been any "compromise" offered in any meeting so far. The new exit was their big olive b...

That episode of 60 Minutes where they showed the footage of Pelosi and Schumer "behind the scenes" from that day cemented that theory. Those mother frickers put on the show of all shows. They TOLD YOU they were going to do it and then executed it to perfection. ...
I’m waiting for a local baw to bawsplain to us about how this is actually bad
I live in Arabi so this has very little to do with me, but here's a few things that concern residents:
• Infrastructure: They are estimating over 1,000 18-wheelers per day to be in/out of that termina...

I was in a rental in Gonzales while my wife was in grad school and my entire family lost all of their shite in Katrina. This place and that thread gave me a nice break. Remember, there was no mobile site because smart phones weren't a thing yet. I would retreat to our back patio with the laptop late ...
When did Chalmette turn ghetto?
It’s not but the demo is definitely different. I just moved back to Arabi last year after being gone for almost 25 years. Most of Arabi has the old school parish feel. But man, there are some pockets of Chalmette and Meraux that are sketchy as frick....
re: Greek & Lebanese Salad Dressing Recipe? UPDATE: RECIPE FOUND

Toum. That’s the word I was looking for. There’s a small pick up only place on the West Bank in Gretna called Sultans Shawarma Shack that has an outstanding toum they serve with everything. The consistency matches Albasha but that’s about it. That one is heavy garlic only. Albasha’s has way more dep...
I would give a finger to have an endless supply of Albasha's dressing
One day I’m going to attempt recreating their dressing. Rumor is the base is whipped olive oil and feta. I know there’s garlic but the rest is the spices are a crap shoot. I think there’s maybe some dill in there...

It’s good. Not great, just good. I work not far from there and we get it pretty regularly. They do good fried seafood. I’m not a fan of any of their pastas. They actually have a pretty decent version of a pressed Cuban sandwich that i usually get. It’s a pretty big menu so you can easily find someth...

New house, neglected yard. I don't even know where to start.

I've been in the house for a few months now but the yard was honestly the last thing on my mind. I'd like to start to get it cleaned up. It's mostly junk right now. Tons of burweed and other shite I have no clue what it is. Suggestions would be appreciated.

I got out in September. My son and I were in the backyard last April playing in his sandbox and we heard a shootout as if it were in my backyard. Turned out is was a rolling shootout that went on for over 10 blocks down General Degaulle. It was at the point where you couldn't go to Rouses or Walgree...

• My son loves the rides so that part was definitely worth it to us.
• Our traffic wasn't terrible but it wi...
