BTW, what's unfair about a law that requires presidents and opposing party nominees to release their taxes?

I don't know. I do know, however, that qualifications for individuals to run President of the United States are set forth in the Constitution and not via current notions of "fairness," or bills that may be introduced in Congress addressing such. So there's that.

Unless this is proposed as a Constitutional Amendment, it's not going anywhere really.

Why stop at tax returns? Why not for instance require them to turn over all higher education transcripts?

You mean Obama's foreign student college ID and fake grades?

Also: President Trump should go LIVE before them on a table and get a colonoscopy.

But not theirs.
Right. Dumb, isn't it? It completely undercuts any high ground of their supposed intent.

would require sitting presidents
Sounds unconstitutional

major-party nominees for those offices, to make public their 10 most recent federal income tax returns
Problematic, as anything past 7 years is often disposed of.

Again all the Dems can do is focus on opposing Trump.

When will they come up with ideas for actually running the country?

I'd be so ashamed to call myself a Democrat after seeing how these loons operate

Trump should offer to release his tax returns for Obama's college applications and transcripts. That would end the debate post haste.

Trump's campaign manager and lawyer pled guilty to hiding income and not paying taxes on it for multiple years. It doesn't take an Einstein to see why Trump was the first presidential nominee in >40 years not to release his taxes.

So, guilty by association? People close to criminals should be treated as criminals? Is this what you really want for this country?

Someone with a friend, family member, or coworker convicted of a DUI should all have breathalyzers on their cars?

Someone arrested with drugs should have all their friends', family's, and business associates' homes, offices, and vehicles searched for drugs?

Are you really willing to turn this country into an authoritarian nightmare just because you dislike the President?

Do you really think the Obama cronies in the IRS haven't combed over Trump's returns? If there was anything to find, Obama's hoodlums in the IRS that illegally attacked the Tea Party would have disclosed it by now.

Your job as an American citizen is to pay the least amount of taxes you are legally able to. If you go to far, the IRS will investigate and new tax law/opinions/actions will occur as a result.

while working with the Podestas a decade before Trump ran for any office? guilt by association is the new standard for you? Yikes. That won’t end well. Thank God Democrats aren’t in complete power. Y’all are very shortsighted. Apparently you lack common sense as well. Is it your understanding that without public release , tax returns aren’t subject to IRS scrutiny?

That is too much common sense for progressives and TigerDoc. Rachel Maddow swears that Poootin made Trump a billionaire and turns a blind eye to U1 monies to Obama and the Clinton's.

WJC getting paid $600,000 to give a speech in Russia. Does honest Bob want to know why, or was he paid off to STFU?

Remember when Obama said he learned of IRS targeting of conservative groups on the news just like everyone else and the media was perfectly happy with that explanation? Yeah...

Like any bill of that type makes it past a veto unless added as a rider to something else more important.
Why would Trump veto that bill? Oh, wait...

I would love to be some kind of advisor on stuff like this. What would I advise?

1) Get McConnell to act like he will not take it up and then act like he gives in after a week of media crying and virtue signaling. Let us marinate in the news cycle really well.

2) sit on it without signing it for as long as allowed. Let the media get frenzied to the max.

3) Schedule press conference about the bill. Let the “we got him now!!” Start.

4) Veto it and say you will sign a revised version that requires the same of Congressional members and Supreme Court judges as well as any disclosure of any taxpayer provided funds and perks available to each branch within 5 days of request.

Tell media you will sign that immediately after it makes the noise of hitting your desk.

5) watch the squirming commence.
