My granddaughter is part hispanic. I had this conversation with her, shes elite academically.
She would rather rise on her own merit.
Does she put down that she's Hispanic? Though she wants to do it on her own merit, if she puts Hispanic because she is part, she by default will benefit from this DEI garbage.

Are you afraid of your daughter competing against diverse groups of people or something?
So, you'd be fine with someone who scored 30 points less than your daughter getting an interview over her just because the person who scored less is brown and your daughter is white?
Because that's what the OP clearly stated, since you obviously missed that somehow. And the OP said that it's clearly racism, and is correct, and you also obviously have no problem with that.
If two people of exact, equal qualifications are in competition for an interview and the non-white candidate gets the interview, that's one thing. That could easily just be seen as "hey, they were just as qualified as me so it's just luck of the draw". But, no, that's not how it is. Picking lesser qualified candidates based solely on their skin color is actual racism and is inevitably going to create a generation of racially bigoted people on all sides.
America had all but completely moved past racism in the 80s and 90s. Those were the years of my youth, and none of us cared about skin color, and we pretty much blasted anyone who said dumb racist shite. Fast forward to now, and Establishment politicians along with woke enterprises have resurrected bigotry and racial tensions far beyond anything I have ever seen in my life, and it is normalized within popular culture and the mainstream.
Honestly since 2009 if you really look back at current events closely, that's roughly the year that things started to regress significantly. And the person who began "leading the nation" that year had everything to do with it. Not a coincidence.

No, he wants his daughter be rated on her merits not on diversity. Why you think ppl should be compared off of what race they are? What are you a 1960's democrat?

Well the OP clearly stated that was his belief. The daughter disagreed. Buncha folks jumped on either side of the issue. Reality is OP doesn't have direct knowledge of the situation the full applications or anything else. Just a single score and the stuff his daughter told him that he interpreted and she disagreed with....

. I got mad and cursed DEI but my daughter got mad at me for even suggesting that. Kids are taught to just accept it. It’s amazing how white kids are taught and believe that prejudice against them is not wrong
Not to be a prick, but this seems like something you should have been on top of better. If she's this age and thinking it's ok, then you have much of the blame.

A propaganda campaign that is properly executed has a very high probability of success. It might take decades of effective propaganda to fully brainwash a demographic, but, it will eventually happen.
Your daughter is the perfect specimen to demonstrate the accuracy of my thesis.

Increased death and maiming due to medical malpractice, bridges and buildings collapsing, airplanes falling from the sky... This is what the future holds for the West, and DEI is to blame.

This is the thread where everyone pretends they’d be A-ok with their heart surgeon being a minority quota product, right?

Sounds like you failed big time in raising your daughter

If white people were smart they would start putting down that they are black and hispanic on every form that ever asks their race and ethnicities. Make the question un-useful to these DEI racists.

quote:I'm not sure what any of that means, really. Frankly, at 275 (>99th%), his daughter outscored any DEI consideration. Her friend might have enjoyed a DEI boost, but his daughter, at that level of performance, lost nothing d/t DEI, guaranteed.
Well the OP clearly stated that was his belief. The daughter disagreed.

As I explained above there is more to this story potentially that we can't see just from OPs post. It's not like he reviewed both applications and the communications with these programs...hes just got his side of his daughter shoulda got whatever she wanted....If this story even happened and isn't just some excuse to rant about DEI...
To be fair it sounds like she did really well on her test and it would surprise me that someone in the 99% percentile wouldn't get callbacks for an interview...would need to know more of the story though to claim racism....

No, we're afraid of borderline idiots being passed thru the system because of color
Then when you end up with a global crisis like covid, those same borderline idiots are making faulty decisions, based on their lack of ability and experience
Then no one wants to use them going forward, and everyone gets to scream racism all over again

My daughter made 30 points higher on her step 2 and much better grades vs Hispanic friend.
My daughter ended up in exactly the residency program she wanted. But it was oddly predictable on match day at her school. The best positions at the best institutions went to the minorities and gays.
In 10-15 years, you’re going to be better off being treated by any white male you can find. They will have to be geniuses in order to make it through the DEI maze medicine is becoming.
One of my youngest daughter’s friend interviewed for med school and they asked him how he would treat a person identifying as another gender as part of the entrance process. He answered truthfully and subsequently did not get in.

has pushed DEI for years, if the school had anything to do with the interviews you shouldn’t be surprised
And the state has put in laws to prevent it, so perhaps they should give students like the OPs daughter an avenue to report it in some kind of appeal process.
Perhaps if students are able to do this they may get so bogged down to where pursuing the DEI route isn't worth it.

As I explained above
FWIW, 270 is about 99th%. 275 is 99+. No residency is turning that down based on gender or skin color.

Your daughter is not a kid.
It's amazing that you can't even respect your own child enough to take her opinion seriously.
