Don’t they have ties to the Mises Institute as well?

Credit where credit is due, Auburn is more than holding its own in the culture wars.

I know it's not in conference, but Clemson is pretty red too from what I'm told.

If you haven’t heard him do an interview on politics you should look one up. He did the clay and buck show a few weeks ago for sure. I used to dislike him when he was at UT, but have grown to like him the last few years. He’s a good dude, and genuinely seems to care for his players also.

Bongino will probably be indicted soon. Spits way too much truth. DOJ can’t be having that.

Texas A&M is pretty conservative.
I have spent far more time there than at Auburn, so I can't speak to if it is more so than Auburn.

A&M and Ole Miss are as conservative as AU traditionally, most likely. Back in the day all three would be at the top of the Princeton Review lists on that topic.

A&M being so large now, I think that's probably diluted it a little more than AU.

I forgot about Ole Miss.

What is the most liberal school? Georgia? Maybe Texas now that it is in the SEC.
Mizzou has some bozo professors, not sure about the students.

Texas, UGA, Missouri and UF would be my guesses. UF is so huge that I assume they have to have a sizable lib population, but with Florida's rightward lurch maybe that's proceeding at a slower pace that one might think. Certainly UF has been less culturally traditional than AU, UA, Ole Miss, etc.

I tell this story all the time, but when I was in school at UGA, I took great pride in the fact that some Auburn kids had to travel to UGA to join the other crazies for protests. They were quoted in the red and black (UGA student paper) as saying they drive to Athens for the events because Auburn students aren't receptive and they can't get enough protestors to make it worthwhile.

I love it and say embrace it.

Thousands of other left wing schools out there you can send you kids to get an education in victim hood and transgender studies.

Have talked with Dozen of parents that have sent there kids to AU because they don’t want there kids coming back with purple hair and hating their parents 4 years later.

Great differentiator and selling point for Auburn

Hmmm.

The citizenry of the community is conservative, but I wonder if some of you have been around the university in a while.

It's A LOT more leftist than it was when I was there from 1988-1992.

And there are pornographic books in the City Library teaching small children to have butt sex just like there are anywhere else in the country. The lower school system is all woke just like anywhere else.

There are plenty of kids who go to Auburn and come home with purple hair and hate their parents for being white or middle class.

I'm sure many other places are worse, but this distinction is kind of like the tallest midget in the Wizard of Oz cast bragging about how tall he is.

That's probably all true. Culturally, what matters is whether your kid can go to a school and mesh with the groups they'll likely mesh with and find lots and lots of space for traditionalist and conservative viewpoints.

That's likely the case almost everywhere in the SEC. It's certainly still the case at Auburn, although I'm sure less than when we were there.

The greek systems are pretty conservative everywhere in the South. And the SEC being the heart of the last gasp of greek systems in American collegiate life, that provides an easy pathway for students to let their traditionalist flags fly without peer pressure to veer left.

Now, outside of the greek systems it gets more questionable. Auburn (and I'm sure MSU, Ole Miss, etc.) still have a very strong Christian presence, so there are plenty of both normal and nerdy non-greek kids of a wholesome, Christian orientation for students to get into peer groups with. And while there is lots of growth in the "progressive Christian" area all over the country, in the Deep South going to Christian student groups is still going to be well to the right of average student life elsewhere.

Alabama is a red state and will always be one.

Auburn is a true conservative school and will always be that way. For that, they should be applauded
