Nobody likes pointing out how fricking terrible Joe Biden and his transportation secretary Pete Buttwhatever are than I do however...

I'm no civil engineer or physics guru, but unless we get new information later on proving this was some kind of terrorist attack our govt agencies missed or that the structural integrity of the bridge was vulnerably compromised already due to years of government negligence and incompetence, I really don't see how this is something one can assign partisan political blame to.

A private company's giant arse cargo vessel plowing full steam directly into the center column of a bridge causing the entire thing to collapse resulting in the deaths of who knows how many seems to me on the surface to be solely the fault of...well...the cargo ship captain and the CEO of the company at hand here. Happy to change my opinion on this should new info come out, however this just seems like a Hall of Shame clusterfrick of a tragedy.

11.5 million vehicles use the bridge every day

That's annual traffic, not daily. Daily traffic volume is 31,500.

Google the Sunshine Skyway disaster, this exact event happened before.

Something is fricky here, foreign captains have to relinquish control of the ship inside the sea buoy (COLREG) demarcation line, to an American Pilot. This should have never occurred.

Pray for those affected and pray this was not an act of terrorism.

The question almost answers itself; couldn’t have hit that pillar/pylon anymore dead center than if it had a bullseye painted on it.

I for one, will not be convinced this wasn’t deliberate until unequivocal information indicates otherwise…

Yea, I mean incredibly reasonable suspicion to have. Like how does a ship "accidently" do that? It's not like you couldn't see it coming from a mile+ away if you are the one driving the boat. That sucker couldn't have hit the very center column of that bridge at full steam more flush than it did...

I can only imagine there was some loss of control.

I thought most of these were gps controlled along with escorts. That ship straight up hit the support.

I’d be curious to know if a river pilot was onboard the vessel, or if calling Seagirt doesn’t require one.

Over 20 construction people who were working on the bridge are currently missing right now according to CBS News. No idea on the number of vehicles that went into the water.

Damn that is sad.

Prayers to them (if they survived) and their families if they didn’t.

No clue. Cargo shipping is an industry I know diddly squat about. I'm sure we will all learn more about the inner details of this industry as we read about what exactly went wrong here in the near future.
