Lacrosse didn't conflict with football for Jim Brown. He played both at Syracuse.

What he meant was, he saw two lacrosse players kissing and didn’t want to take the brave gays’ spots on the team, so he told his dad he needed a ticket back from Scranton to picket with the coal miners in Wilmington. He worked with these guys as stevedores on the docks.
