Or, it should raise alarm bells for people who keep using the "great buying opportunity" meme

And I'm sure their NPCs repeated the same lines 30 years ago, too.

The larger question is why MAGA wants to promote DEM talking points.

Then explain how “most people” view it. Be specific.

You don't think a discussion of why MAGA supports DEM talking points is a valid one? Strange.

The leftism of MAGA has always been my primary criticism.

Do you believe "most people" consider running twin deficits for 50 years a good thing?

Reacting to different markets and their varying ratios of rationality:irrationality

The US has found it highly beneficial to trade with countries engaged in higher irrationality (protectionism via tariffs) and has out-paced those countries for that reason.

Thing have worked out very well for us and better than everyone else in the "new world order" era of "globalism" (post-USSR dissolution).

Trade deficit: fine

I'm all for shoring up the public deficit.

We're discussing the trade aspect ITT, though.

So letting other countries impose higher tariffs on the US, and the US not following suit, is a good thing?

That's like finding out your neighbor is banging your wife on the daily and then saying, "Well, I guess he needs her help too."

The US should not be picking up the World's tab at every party.

Then why do they not call out the hundreds of other countries that for decades have taken advantage of the US in trade? Trump has not even applied full reciprocal tariffs, yet they are laying this at his feet. Assign the blame where it belongs - those responsible for the generations of trade frickery that got us here, not the person trying to fix it.

100%

The alternative is 100% the collapse of the USD and our economy.

At least Trump and his are attempting a fix.

This is using what’s left of our big stick to mitigate as much as possible. Edit: and getting as much national security related manufacturing back on shore.

What about our children and their children? I happen to give a damn about them,
