Not likely.
Running trade deficits, you need high investment to stay afloat.

Would I be correct that you support European sovereignty over US sovereignty as long as Trump is president?
I don't make these ridiculous subjective comparisons
I want what's best for America(ns), but that isn't a discussion in terms of weight sovereignty of various nations. That's just silly analysis.

Won't fix it, but it will mean we've produced a greater percentage of what we consume.
At higher prices, hurting GDP which will decrease tax receipts and hurt our deficit. That's not good.

. It will mean we're less dependent on foreign production.
Irrelevant for the discussion.

Our economy is already bad
Our economy is not bad. It's by far the #1 economy in the world.
Even if you want to try some Platonic ideal statement, everyone else in the system that we're describing is worse, and we're discussing the interplay of that system, which makes this assertion irrelevant.
quote:
The only reason the dollar isn't weak already is our trading partners are supporting it.
It's not the only reason. Our economy being the best is the largest reason. Our military (and Pax Americana) are the 2nd largest reason.

Your talking points are economically unsound.
You can't even make truthful statements about the status of the various economic factors in play.

Same. Optics Planet has been abusing the frick out of me. I buy and buy, and they have never once purchased a product from me.
My trade deficit with them is probably over 10k. frickers!

That will be naturally "fixed" by the results of his comment (Declining GDP, economic status, SOL, and USD).
I prefer the alternative, where we have the great GDP, SOL, economic status, and USD (with a larger trade deficit), as does Ackman.

Your little populist crew has told me 100 times this morning that Trump promised this would happen.
Crickets.

If the United States continues to operate like the world's shopping mall, our future will proceed much like that of shopping malls. We cannot continue to allow ourselves to be the world's bitch for slave labor. Covid should have taught us the folly of that, but the "billionaire investors" who have swollen like ticks on the death of American manufacturing and the shrinking of the middle class don't care about things like that. They only care about the little numbers on the ticker going up.

I posted long ago on this board or the money board that fixing our economic problems would begin by unmasking them. I believe Obama was president at that time. It's the same for every president going forward, no matter what they promise.

And on investments we actually saw les Invesment in 2023 than we did 2016-2022.
So investment in America was declining.

What does that have to do with you stealing material from SFP? I mean, it’s not an awful move. SFP is leaps and bounds smarter than you.

Thats not what I asked. Ive been saying for months this would happen and got nothing but angst from the populists.
When did Trump tell you he would start a recession?

You want someone to math for you what will happen when there are no tariffs?
Shouldn’t there be a plan? With real numbers attached to them? Like smart people adding it all up? Surely they have estimates for data inputs.
Or should we just trust them and hope for the best?
We have a saying at work, “hope isn’t a plan”

So they have a trademark on certain ideas?
No, but the ideas define themselves.
I don't take someone seriously who claims to be a Christian who also says things like, "That's just my truth, someone else may have a different truth," or "Jesus was a great moral teacher, but He wasn't God."
You can believe anything you want, but there's a point at which it doesn't make any sense to claim that you adhere to a philosophy when you reject the majority of the key differentiating beliefs contained in that philosophy.
Or the converse of that. It doesn't make sense to deny that you adhere to a philosophy when the majority of your beliefs align with the key differentiating points of that philosophy.
MAGA is a collectivist philosophy that has already embraced several anti-individualist, collectivist tenets and will embrace more as time goes on.
It doesn't matter where on the spectrum populism starts, it ends up on the left.
