Deer season is winding down and I always find it interesting to learn what worked for others. I’ll start.

Bow - doe
.38-55 WIN, single shot - 2 does
257 WBY - doe (Mississippi)

I don’t really shoot anymore. I have my proxy do it. He has dispatched an 8pt, 9pt, 10pt and (2) does with the 30.06 that I grew up with. No misses, no tracking jobs.

His little sister would have shot at a doe with a .243, had she been able to find it in the scope.

Always thought this was a cool cartridge. What rifle?

12 GA. MOSSBERG 500 - Bull Moose.

Didn't have to shoot him. He dropped dead from fright, when he heard me rack the slide.

.38-55 is in a H&R Target Classic. Old fashion look and very accurate. Very mild recoil. Bought it the first year Mississippi went to modern primitive but before 35 Whelen was allowed. They haven’t made the rifle in a while.

Really Though - I haven't killed spit this year, had a few nice bucks on camera but could never get them to daylight this year. And we had no ducks when I went

Son took the 1st deer off our place last Sat with a 6.5 cm. It was a doe. She ran 30 yds.
Double lung shot.

On Monday good friend of his and neighbor took his 1st deer on his very 1st hunt ever on our place with a .270. Nice doe. Neck shot the wrecked the far side shoulder. DRD.

I never took a shot. I was wanting 2 off the property and we got them.

All kills were w/ single shot Remington XP-100's
8 point buck, 7mm 140 gr Federal Fusion
one doe and one hog, 260 Remington 120 gr Speer Gold Dot
doe, 260 Remington 120 Barnes TTSX
doe, 7-08 Remington, 120 gr Barnes TTSX.
I really like the 120 Barnes TTSX bullets in 6.5mm and 7mm. The 120 gr 6.5mm Gold Dot looks very promising, as well.
