The ducks will be all over any cooling ponds or retention ponds once duck season kicks in and there is no hunting there.

Watching the shuttle launch many times, the birds fly away but always come back. People fish all around Cape Canaveral.

NB4 - I get the loss of actual marsh/wetlands for the site of the facility.

No idea. I guess we will find out.

It’s the first thing I thought about when the area in question came up. There’s (imo) going to be a consolidation of the small leases into much larger section holders. More $ for Miami and less exposure. I bet their next board meeting is going to be Lit with happiness.

If they hit the 30 launches a day goal I am not sure how much hunting will be going on down there. These things are pretty loud even 10 miles away. Much less in the buffer zone area.

Do you think they are going to ignore the EPA and Corps regulations, or just maybe there are mitigation plans in place? None of these other mega projects underway have gotten to bypass those requirements, in fact, the Enviros got Biden’s Corp lackeys to stop the big Formosa project in St. James AFTER all their permits had been issued.

The NGO’s still have a lot of taxpayer money and Bloomberg bucks left from tPotatoUS administration to try and snarl this up in court, and as we’ve seen elsewhere, one rogue judge with a hard on for the Little General can roadblock things.

I got out of duck and goose hunting 4-5 years ago because it had already become like that. Hunt wood ducks and deer now.

I grew up hunting around pecan island but it was Miami land, not vermillion land corp which was Exxon’s land.
Area went to shite 10-15 years ago like the rest of the area.
Pre Rita, you almost limited out every hunt in that area.

They have but everything on the coast east of FWC is the last year per my sauces. Thinking everyone from Schooner bayou west a couple miles will be safe but that’s a WAG right now.
More wishful thinking than anything else and that area still kills birds.

I’m working down at CP2 right now and Cameron is NYC compared to PI. Without additional road infrastructure this project will never happen. There aren’t enough trades, busses, rv parks or parking to handle this project right now.

Timeline is very optimistic to put it mildly.

‘26-27’ leases were renewed, even the ones at “ground zero” for the project. I say this bc one of my leases is ground zero. Going forward there will be hunting opportunity, not as much as when vermilion handled the leases, but still a large area available for leases. The biggest take away which was made clear from the start of negotiations was the hurricane protection aspect and marsh restoration. There was never going to be any money available to restore this area of marsh without this project and it was going to continue to disappear and pi was one good hurricane from being washed away. Now there is a future for the marsh, the community and those of us that have places there. Now it is a real possibility that my kids and grandkids will have this place to hunt and enjoy long after I am gone. Space x is the best case scenario for pi, vermilion parish and frankly La. Space x is an exponentially better corporate partner than any of the oil co’s ever would be and I am very pro O and G.
