So are duck hunting leases be renewed or cancelled in the Exxon property that was given to the State and being reserved for Spacex?

After Elon moves in there won't be a duck for 100 miles of that place.

More like it will become a refuge since he plans major coastal restoration and the hunting will be light if non existent.

From what I've been told, they have been told they no longer have a lease.

Someone told me their lease for 2026 was renewed, which I suppose is possible since construction isn't supposed to start until 2027. Don't take this as gospel.

Isn't only a small % of the land being developed and the rest will be a buffer zone?

I'd imagine ole Elon would do more for coastal restoration in the area than what the state/fed government has been doing

Anyone know if we will still be able to access Rockefeller for shrimping and crabbing?

Not even close. I don't know exactly where the town boundaries of Pecan Island are mapped, but Rockefeller's eastern boundary is at Rollover Bayou, which is maybe five or six miles from the Pecan Island School. Depending on how they map the complex, the closed off area could get real close to Rollover.

There may still be access to the Refuge, but we may have to come from the west, which would be a huge PIA for those of us coming from the east.

In the presentation they said they want to maintain hunting and fishing in the area. Not sure about specifics.

I’m reading access which would be Joseph’s harbor so about 20 miles +-, correct? There’s one access point from rollover but that lake is super shallow and only goes to one wier. You’ll just have to drive to JH.

I can definitely see that being the case. You are probably right. The Rollover launch may not survive this.

But my concern is also the roadway. Has anyone heard whether they are going to restrict Hwy 82 coming from the East?

Maybe they’ll move east where I’m at.

What I think is this will open areas that haven’t been open to the public in decades. How we use it right or wrong is up to us. If they manage it right and we use it right it will be great. But the ole boys with the leases will have to remember the good ole days the rest of us never had a chance for.

Rice filed blinds will probably double in price, Miami will charge school board rates & you’ll be able to have a conversation with your neighbors.
Space X Baws will be able to afford a lease and Platinum F250 very soon.
