I was talking with someone in law enforcement and involved with SWAT and they said sometimes the trees and bushes can give off heat signatures and it’s tough to identify things.

Sounds like they don't know what they are talking about or they are using some old tech thermals. I got an old FLIR monocular from Wildlife and fisheries on govdeals and it's pretty terrible compared to what is out there now. You can absolutely identify a hog in thick brush or trees with the newer thermals. I can see flying squirrels in a tree with my thermal. I will say there is a big difference in a 25mm vs 35mm. For the couple of hundred more dollars I would for sure go with the 35mm. Don't waste your money on the digital night vision stuff. The price is very tempting, but you will regret it in the long run. Speaking from personal experience on that.

Go check out outdoor legacy gear. They specialize in thermals for hunting, and the owners will talk to you about your specific needs and set you up with the best thermal for you.

If you can spend a little more I would go thermal. Like the AGM Rattler V2 TS35-384. It's around $1800.00. Perfect for hogs.
The Q erector is awesome. Very light and quiet.

Interstate Guns in Hammond just sent out an email saying they will do it on just a 4473 for select suppressors in stock.

I've been doing all ground meat lately aside from the straps.

re: Replacing Pentair pool lights

Posted by jdavid1 on 8/13/26 at 7:58 am to
I paid $800 to change one light and power supply. I used it maybe 5 times in a year and it went out. I ended up getting a light off amazon and changed it out myself. It takes maybe 20mins by yourself. The longest was trying to get the old light out without the right tool. I ended up using two flathead screwdrivers and finally got it out.
Best place around for burritos. Pricey, but very good.
We got the feeders going again and filled them two weeks ago. Cameras stay on year round. Using Tacticams with solar.
I had two go out recently. No repair guy will touch it. Just their labor costs will be more than the cost of a new unit. I couldn't even find parts for the GE that went out. The local appliance parts store told me the same thing. Replacement parts are not available and to just buy a new one.

Thanks for all the replies. I would love to wait until Nov-Dec, but that is deer season. I may have to try and make a trip sooner. I will reach out when I get some time. Thanks!
I had a big dead oak over the kids playhouse and nobody would come out for just one tree. Tried Tangi and Bottomland. Evans tree came out this morning and knocked it out without dropping anything on the playhouse which was tight.

Guided bass trip recommendations

Posted by jdavid1 on 7/22/26 at 9:22 am
My 8 year old is really into bass fishing right now. Typically, we would go to Venice, but the river won't cooperate lately. I'm thinking about getting an Airbnb and getting a guide for a few days to go catch some good fish on a lake. His biggest so far is a 4lb bass in the neighborhood pond. I'm thinking maybe Caney or Toledo Bend. I haven't been to either of them before. Any recommendations from the OB?

None of those companies will likely warranty those appliances anyway.

This. Our seller got a three year appliance warranty when we bought our house. In those three years, two ac units, one fridge, one microwave, and a hot water heater all went out. They wouldn't cover anything. Totally worthless and a waste of time trying to argue with them.

I've always been partial to Bazooka marine speakers for my boats. They are loud, clear, and priced right. Also, they are a Baton Rouge company if that matters.

Dennis retired, and boat stuff won't touch a Evinrude anymore. Magnum Outboard in Harvey is about the only people who will still work on them.

Always called them banana spiders.
Looks like HPD went to work last night. I will say the names are somewhat surprising.
