I’m not sure where this guy is hunting, but you do realize they have a ton of free range Axis in Texas?

It’s low fence. I’ve never hunted high fence.

How much longer will they be in Velvet?

There’s really no way to tell from the little knowledge I have of them. I have some on camera now that are hard horned, some growing still in velvet, and some that are almost done growing in velvet.

Main breeding season is May to August but I think they can breed year around.

That is a very nice one, especially in velvet.

If you are going to mount him, I'd say no doubt. Go kill him and enjoy a long weekend.

If you aren't going to mount him, I'd let him walk and breed.

With those facts, I would be burning 15 days and hunting him until he is dead and then going to find a turkey or just enjoying time off.

No need to chance it. You don't want to have to play catchup at the start of Q2. Send me GPS coordinates and I'll take my son and a .308 and make sure he's good.

You seem like a pretty intelligent guy, so why ask such a stupid question?

I would do it. I would suggest everyone else to do it if they had the opportunity. You won't regret taking time off of work, hunting and/or killing that axis. You may regret not taking the opportunity though.

Fine animal. I’ve always wanted an Axis and that looks like a BMF.

I don’t. I’ve got a few go pros but never opened them

I’m way to ADD for that shite. I’ll film some nice critters walking around with my IPhone but that’s about it.

I almost left without a gun this trip and probably don’t have underwear.

yes, and if you can't, send me details and I'll go chase it and pay you a nominal fee.

Yeah. That fricker was already here when I was walking to the stand

Tried to spot and stalk but he rolled out before I turned the corner.

fricking should have left an hr earlier.

Wind is blowing right into my face from the feeder and it’s 80 degrees out.

He's in another county now. Might as well go home and get some work done
