Plus there's no way Ben Stein caught a world record trout.

Kenny Cobb caught a huge one back in the 90s

Looks like he was a bream catching sonofabitch back in the day.

This list makes me remember the magic Caney had in the 90's and early 2000s.

The bigger white trout are caught offshore.

I think all of the white trout on the list were caught many years ago.

Probably related to commercial fishing in some way.

I know the biggest ones I've caught were years ago offshore, and most recently were after the oil spill, when they closed fishing. I assumed the lack of nets allowed them to thrive that year.

That Saturday they re-opened made a trip with my dad to barrier island and caught 47 specks that were all 19-22 inches and white trout were the same, so I kept them and ate them fresh.

Haven't seen any white trout that size since.

Trout weight vs inches varies by region and time of year. A 30" fish can weigh anywhere between 6 and 10 pounds. 12lb trout likely 32"-34" or greater

What happened to Caney? It was on fire for several years, don’t hear anything about it anymore.

Yeah, that graph is pretty damn accurate. My personal best is a 7 pounder that was just at 27 inches.

My brother-in-laws caught a huge sailfish on a damn drift line while snapper fishing out of Grand Isle two years ago that would have made the top 10. Released it after a couple of pics and didn’t measure it though.
