Looking to get a .22lr or .22mag pistol without breaking the bank. Basically, I’m just going to use it to dispatch raccoons and coyotes I catch in traps. I kind of like the Heritage Rough Rider since I can get both .22lr and .22wmr cylinders. But not opposed to a semi-. Say $350 as the limit.

I think you can find a Browning Buckmark for under $400.

Ruger Wrangler if you want a single action

Looked at a glock .22 the other day.

I didn’t even realize that they had one.

It’s wierd to hold it because it’s so light weight.

Under$500, it seems like a decent gun to have.

I really like my Beretta neos. It looks like a Star Trek gun and has a giant rail on top that you could mount a cheap red dot on. It’s been incredibly reliable for me as well.

I didn’t know that either and had to look it up.

I have a Walther P22. It is kind of selective with ammo, but its a fun gun to shoot. I typically run CCI ammo through it, and it works fine, but if you're shooting bulk ammo, it can hang up every couple mags or so if you are rapid firing. Someone told me they brought theirs to a gunsmith and he did something to it and it'll cycle anything through it now. I might try and do the same.

Most folks who buy the 22LR w/ a 22 Mag cylinder rarely use the 22 Mag after the first couple of times. Compared to the 22LR, the 22 Mag is very loud in a short barreled handgun and offers little extra performance. Most find they don't want to bother w/ changing cylinder for that. Wrangler would be my choice for a single action. If you want a 22 Mag cylinder, I'd suggest a Ruger Single Six. I have a Taurus 22LR 9 shot DA revolver that would be fine for what you describe. Mine has pleased me for many years. Ruger also makes a number of fine 22 DA revolvers of various sizes. Amongst semi-autos, the Ruger Mark 4 and Buckmark are always good choices. I've shot my son in law's Walther and it handled nicely. I'm partial to the Mark 4 22/45 lite since I have one. The Ruger Mark one was the first handgun I ever bought and that was MANY years ago. Keep us updated w/ your purchase.

I have a Colt New Frontier .22 single action and it is my favorite pistol to shoot. It eats up any old crappy ammo on hand and it forces a steady pace and doesn't chew threw massive amounts of ammo.

This Ruger looks like a clone of my Colt.

Revolver, Heritage, LR and Mag, and accurate enough. I have one and, unlike some .22 autos, won’t have a FTE scenario.

My neos with red dot mounted on the factory rail is money. Shoots everything I feed it from cheap bulk to subsonic to hypervelocity without a hitch. By far my most reliable 22lr pistol outside of the single 6.

Get a ruger wrangler that way you can shoot shorts or CBs once this ammo shortage ends.
I have two semi autos (buckmark and sw) and while both are great for shooting LR ammo it sucks to load shorts or rat shot when shooting yard pest.

Between $450-500 for blued $550-600 for stainless.

Another to consider is the S&W M&P 22 compact

It’s the same size as the shield and it’s a great little gun. I use mine quite with a silencer often dispatching raccoons that I’ve trapped. I live in a neighborhood and no one knows that I’ve done anything with a gun.
