Mine did that recently. 2016 with the 2.7. Ended up being the valve body in the transmission. They're known for valve body issues.
You getting an engine light as well? Mine would also random shift. Wouldn't start one day because it thought it was in drive. ...

I know ammo is hard to get these days but see if you can find 38 special low recoil hydrashock. I think it's around 90 grain. Less pressure so the recoil is reduced but still effective. Jim's in Baton Rouge normally carried it.
Also don't count out 32acp. I know you said revolver but look at ...
