Did she tweak something on the jump? Did they ever say the reason?

Slightly too far forward on the board and wouldn’t have been able to complete the dive

We called that the toothpick when I was a kid. I grade it a 6.5. Right leg needs to be much straighter.

Nah, she needs to tuck that knee and lean back for a can opener.

Is diving like the trampoline event where it doesnt start unless you begin the "routine"? In spring board diving, can you abort and catch yourself, and walk back and start over? It looks like these try to catch themselves but momentum pushes them over the edge.

Ya'll have to hear the announcers' build up of this dive. It makes the entire thing 5x funnier:

My daughter said the way her jump was going, she would have flown off the end of the board. She was too high, then hit wrong. Think of physics, she was back and it would throw forward. There’s no way she would have made that dive.

she didn’t get quite the spring she wanted

Don’t they get multiple attempts

The women do 5 dives, a front, back, inward, reverse (gainer), and a twisting dive. They have prelims, semis, and finals. If you can fail a dive and still score enough, you’d make finals.

But you only get one try.

You can go to the end, jump and not jump off. You can start your walk, hurdle and not go. Those are called a balk and there is a 2 pt deduction off each judge’s score.

I’m sure this wasn’t the case here, but you’ll see some clubs that balk a lot. Good coaches don’t allow it. At my daughter’s club, the coach made them jump off and lose their turn.

I could’ve scored more than an Olympian who trained their whole life for that event.

I’m amazing
