I hate to point out one guy but he’s the sole reason we aren’t at least going to make the tournament. This team has tons of issues but if Hurd could’ve at least been competent this year we would be in the big dance.

Millazo could have helped. That ball he threw away will end up the difference

I’d prefer Kling and Neal had taken that next step. But yes, I feel bad for Hurd at this point. Just not going to happen for him.

Hurd
Coleman
Cade Anderson
Cam Johnson

There's a few pitchers that disappointed this year, thankfully most are young.

There are some moves Jay made that piss me off

I thinj we absolutely needed more bats in the offseason.

But I can’t complain about how he handles the pitching. He brought in Holeman and Jump. Loer who wasn’t a success but it was there. And ultimately
o can’t fault him for thinking Hurd and Ack would give him way more.

Hurd not being able to eat 5 innings a weekend has crippled this teams ability to be competitive in game 3 most weekends. Staff is improving around him. A couple of breaks and LSU sweeps bama. Every game is an elimination game now until the 3rd round of the SEC tournament.

While I agree Johnson has looked bad at times, they’re true freshman. You expected them to dominate from the beginning? Hurd and Coleman are the disappointments

Why do y'all ignore a whole season and try to narrow it down to one play by one player?

If we're doing that, why not blame Tommy for missing the base on Friday or other mistakes by certain players throughout the season?

The fact some people want to put the blame on any one player shows the lack of intelligence by those people. This team just isn't very good and it's taken the whole team to get to where we're at, not just one play by Milazzo or any other player for that matter.

Are Pearson misjudging a flyball and left without his shades on. Or about 1000 other fricking things that happened in the game like little getting up a two run homer. Or all the walks by little and hHerring . I can keep going. Put it on one is fricking stupid

This whole season had bad juju. Early in the year it seemed like we couldn’t catch a fly ball in the outfield. Misjudged the ball. Lost the ball in the lights. Or the sun. Then braswell couldn’t get a ground ball in his glove for 3/4 the season. At least 2 dozen base running errors. Over slide the base. Miss the base. Leave early on a tag up. Or don’t tag at all. Fifty pass balls on Catchers this year. List goes on and on. Just a black cloud day to day. Kept waiting on them to break out but it never happened. Oh and bases loaded and no outs. How many times did we get one run. Or no runs…

Mac Bingham certainly wasn’t as advertised.

Big leap from the Pac 12 to the SEC. Some guys can cut it, other guys can’t.

LSU was a comedy of errors this year. And a lot of under performance.

Turning point was the dropped third strike against Florida

Culmination was the toss into right at Bama.

100 other problems in between.

We had 4 reliable pitchers. Jump, Holman, Herring and sometimes Guidry. We did not have the pitching we thought.

Fielding was not very good.

Hitting was below average.

That’s on Johnson. That’s his best friend. Johnson is all about hitting for power and OPS and all that other bullshite. UK is all about scoring runs. Different philosophy. If you want that kind of team, you go get Andy Cannizaro for your hitting coach. He can teach you how to bunt, steal and do other fundamental things that they don’t know how to do right now.

That’s a very good synopsis.

I might also add that this team very clearly lacked a leadership presence. The underperformance stems back to too many guys failing to do their jobs, expecting others will pick up the slack.

I think tinkering with the lineup as much as he did, didn’t help create stability with the hitters. I get doing it at the beginning of the season when you don’t know who your top 9 will be but once you settle in on who is going to be your top 9-11 players, then keep them in the lineup and keep them in a similar order. It’s almost like he was just throwing crap against the wall hoping it would work.

Analytics is the ruination of baseball. At all levels.

Damn you, Billy Beane/Paul dePodesta.
