What are the qualifications to be eligible for photo of the year? Does it have to be taken by a member of the WHCA? Does it have to take place at the WH? Does it have to include the President or some other elected official?

ETA ChatGPT response:

The White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) does not have a specific award titled "Photo of the Year." However, it does offer the "WHCA Award for Excellence in Presidential News Coverage by Visual Journalists," which recognizes outstanding work by photojournalists covering the presidency. This award is part of the WHCA Journalism Awards, which honor exemplary journalism produced in the previous year. ([Awards | White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA)](LINK ))

### Eligibility and Submission Guidelines

- **Eligibility**: The award is open to photojournalists who have produced work covering the presidency, either at the White House or in the field. ([Awards | White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA)](LINK ))

- **Submission Deadline**: The deadline for submissions is typically 5 p.m. EST on February 28 each year. ([Awards | White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA)](LINK ))

- **Submission Requirements**: Entries must include the work completed in the previous year, and all submissions are reviewed by a panel of judges. ([Terms and conditions - WHNPA’s Annual Video, Editing and Digital Storytelling Contest - Picter](LINK ))

- **Awards Presentation**: The awards are presented at the WHCA's annual dinner, which takes place in April. ([Awards | White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA)](LINK ))

### Criteria for Judging

While specific judging criteria are not publicly detailed, the WHCA emphasizes excellence in journalism, including: ([Awards | White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA)](LINK ))

Let's say that the pre-tariff price of an item is $100 and it's subject to a 10% tariff. Instead of charging $110, the manufacturer decides to eat part of the tariff and charges $105. Would Amazon have listed the tariff as $10 even though the price only increased $5?

Point being that simply listing the tariff amount doesn't always tell the full story.

"Excess solar resulted in too little inertia”…….. can I get a translation

This quote is referring to a technical issue in power grid management. Let me break it down:

"Excess solar" means there was too much solar power being generated and fed into the grid at a particular time.

"Too little inertia" refers to the physical property of rotational inertia that traditional power generators (like coal, gas, or nuclear plants) naturally provide to the grid. These conventional generators have large spinning turbines that resist changes in their rotation speed, which helps stabilize grid frequency.

So the quote is saying that having too much solar power generation relative to conventional generation created a stability problem in the electrical grid. Since solar power systems are connected through electronic inverters rather than spinning masses, they don't naturally provide the same stabilizing inertia to the grid. When the proportion of solar gets too high without proper compensation measures, the grid can become unstable and vulnerable to fluctuations, potentially leading to a power outage.

This is one of the technical challenges in transitioning to renewable energy sources - finding ways to maintain grid stability while incorporating more non-inertial generation like solar and wind.
Not a fan of the optics here, but what is Jr's ownership percentage of the club? At least a club has a lot more overhead and operational costs than a painting. Materials for a painting was probably under $100, throw in a nice frame and you might be around $500. It's almost all profit.

Once again, bad optics to open it in DC.

I always order using the place's app. Usually has discounts and don't have to worry about how someone else puts your order in.
The Democrats over-used the word racist to the point that it lost its meaning. When everything is racist, nothing is racist. My 13yo calls things she doesn't like racist. Since racist lost its meaning, the Democrats pivoted to white supremacy since that sounded worse.

The term white supremacy is actually racist as it means someone or something is better just because it's white.

Sean’s in Denver now. He could give two shits aboot LSU.

This. Sean didn't like local media asking why former great LSU player wasn't getting more playing time. The Denver media won't be asking those questions about an LSU player.

Your right i just downvoted you frick a bunch of restitution he got a slap on the fricking wrist

I agree. PTI should not be offered to someone that commits the same crime multiple times in multiple places over multiple days. I'm just calling out the fact that the tweet was not 100% correct. Charges were deferred under the PTI program, not that the DA declined to file charges. Let's call out fake news on both sides.

There are rules around here!!!
I'm sure I'll get down voted, but the staffer didn't get totally off free. He was recommended for a pre-trial intervention program that includes restitution to the victims, probably community service, and other conditions. To be fair, the 19yo should be offered the same program.
Will need to defer to SFP, but doesn't the judges actions open up every case she has ruled on to appeal for possible prejudice?

If they wanted a QB in the 1st, they could have traded down, even if they couldn't get equal "book" value in the trade.

Meanwhile in other areas of the state, parents' first choice is public school. Central getting their own school district was a major factor in Redemptorist being shut down. Zachary added another dagger to EBR privates.

The property tax, or the exemption?

Either or both. I hate property taxes. No one should be forced to sell their house because they can't afford the taxes on it. However, property taxes are the best way to focus the taxes on the people that benefit from the revenue. School districts, fire protection, etc. If I live in Ascension and shop at Sam's or Costco, which doesn't have any locations in Ascension, then having my sales tax revenue go to EBR programs that I'll never use is no benefit to me. Having that sales tax revenue go to maintaining the streets that I use to get there, police to make it safe to drive and shop there, etc makes sense.

Well that’s easy to say but food manufacturers have to figure out a solution to replace it all so I kind of understand why they can’t just replace it tomorrow

Others have said that they can use the recipes that they use in other countries. I wonder if it's more about covering purchase orders that are already in place. What if fedgov offers to buy out all standing purchase orders in exchange for moving up the date?

This. She said that she always travels with spare dresses to match multiple occasions, like an unexpected funeral or last minute party invite. But she purposely to her people not to have an inauguration dress on standby in fear of her growing a conscience and feeling guilty about not going.

Trump's legacy hinges and will be judged on any lasting legislation he can actually get passed.

I disagree. Biden's legacy isn't any less shitty because he did things through EO that Trump reversed. A president should take advantage of all of the tools that are afforded to him to accomplish his goals. Until the general population cleans house in congress, then only uniparty approved items will pass congress.

It's "funny" how overall the country has an unfavorable view of congress, but continues to re-elect the 3 people they have control over with their vote (1 House and 2 Senate). Like everyone else sucks except my 3 people.
