I thought about retiring early and going to work at Home Depot for a little kick around money. So I mentioned it to a friend who retired to Az what I was considering. He told me "I know the manager at the depot here and he will hire you for sure". I asked him "did you put in a good word for me?"
He said no, 90% of the applicants fail the drug test.

A bomb could go off in the Lowe's closest to me and no one would get hurt since there are neither customers nor employees in the store. It's amazing how it stays open.

I went to lowes yesterday. Found what I needed and the lady at the self checkout gave me a 20% off entire purchase coupon, so I saved about $25.

My two Lowe’s are clean and organized. Pro desk dude is a big help all the time. Still go to HD and Ace depending on what I need.

Probably a store by store thing. I've been in good Lowes and bad Lowes and good Home Depots and bad Home Depots. I prefer my local Home Depot over Lowes, but they are not exceptionally different. If I need something, my go-to order of shopping goes like this:
1.) Local guy down the highway
2.) Ace
3.) Home Depot
4.) Lowes
I'm not in construction or anything, so I don't need bulk. If I am working on a little project and need six kinds of a certain bolt and don't already have it, I go to the local guy and buy six. I don't have to buy a bag of 100.

Only about a fourth of that describes my Lowe’s shopping experience here near Birmingham.
What is frightening is the announcements you hear in the parking lot to “lock your vehicle and not to leave valuables in it”.
Usually my questions are answered satisfactorily and most of the employees know what they are doing. I do have to hunt one down occasionally.
Home Depot employees are easier to find….

My hometown Lowe’s is nothing like the OP’s. Clean, organized, staffed appropriately with knowledgeable employees. There’s one young girl (20’s) who’s an expert on hardware.
I’ve shopped there for years and I’ve never had an issue other than not being able to get a replacement part in a Kobalt tool a few years ago.
