Would Lowe’s exist today if it started off by providing the 2026 Lowe’s experience?

The store closest to me is a dumpster fire.

Parking lot is an unkempt mess with trash
Most (80%?) products say ‘Hecho en China’
Employees that know almost nothing about the products
Other employees that appear to be walking around the store not doing anything but making time*
Loudspeaker announcements in Spanish
Hardware section with plenty of missing items and messy bins
Self checkout only except for garden and Pro register

* - I often see this at other Lowe’s stores.

You could day this about any fast food restaurant, Walmart, etc.

Can’t say that I have the same experience at the Lafayette Lowe’s.

I don’t mind it.

Similar to pizza chains, it just depends on the location closest to you. I was a Home Depot guy at my first house but have turned into a Lowes guy after moving last year.

And you didn’t say where it was after such a rant.

Lowes closest to me is better than the Home Depot.

Always in and out with a quickness and if I know what I need, I just order ahead to pick up. Also bought out last two appliances through Lowes without issue (all since 2020).

Who goes into Lowe's looking for help?

Just stock the shelves and let me decide if.I need it. Fewer people to talk to the better.

The Lowe’s off Seigen in BR is pretty solid. It’ll be out of stuff sometimes but the store is never trashed and people that work there are usually nice. The older lady that’s often by the self checkout is very kind. My only complaint is their carts desperately need replacing.

I will say this about our Wal Mart. The employees that are there, are working. you never see them idle or standing around on their phones. just don't get in the way of the order fillers and their carts.

None of the Lowes or Home Depots, including in heavily hispanic hoods in Katy do any of this.

I find Lowes and Home Depot pretty much hire the same type people.

Ask an employee where something is and 9 out of 10 times they'll say something like "I think it's over on aisle 6" and that's about the extent of help.

Without a doubt, the best big box store I've ever been to was in Bloomington, IN. several years ago when helping a friend frame up an addition to his home. The store was called Menard's and the help was top notch with the store being neat, clean and well organized.

It made our local HD and Lowes pale in comparison-----by a lot.

Nowadays you pretty much need to know what to look for and where to look for it prior to going to the store. The Home Depot app is also amazing though. I used to work for HD corporate and they poured a lot of money into the UI experience.

Back when I lived in Birmingham, curiosity finally got the better of me and I checked out the hidden Home Depot by Miles College off 20/59 in Fairfield. You see the sign, but nothing else.

First impression: beat-down BHM suburb/hood by the dead steel plant, off the old BHM Superhighway, next to dead mall. Next impression: parking lot with random flora and fauna wandering about. Lock yo doors, people.

But when I went inside, it was packed floor to ceiling with things useful to contractors. Lumber, tools, stuff. Customers - almost all professional/contractor-looking folks -- busily filling carts with things they needed. No nonsense.

Do I miss that place? You bet. Maybe the one here up on Airline comes close.
