Where was the barricade? On vacation?
Even really rural areas in La have barricades when bridges are out.

Anytime a bridge is closed a barricade is required. Was there no barricade or did he drive through it?
This reminds me of Michael Scott Ave the lake. Very tragic.

That guy looks exactly like someone I would expect to drive a Jeep Gladiator into a river.

The roadway is not owned by Google. Google has no duty to erect signage or barricades. If Google is the only defendant, this will be a short-lived suit.

Need more pics of widow to determine how I feel about this. The dead guy is on my bad side for buying a Jeep Gladiator

Good lord, you’re an uninformed idiot. All you have to do is a little light reading of the OP to gather this information about this story. You can read, right?

Seems she should sue the county/state/whoever. How is Google to blame for a bridge being out? It's not like their data is real time.
While your point is valid from a common sense perspective, lawsuits are directed toward deep pockets for compensation.
There may still be a separate lawsuit against the civic entity.
Let's see how this detail influences the suit.
The suit says that a woman had told Google that the bridge was out. That person in 2020 used a "suggest an edit" feature twice and was told in an emailed response that the matter was under review, the lawsuit alleges.

A Dodge Charger would have jumped that gap easily.

There was no signage at the bridge saying “ bridge out or closed “
Or anything like that ?
Ok I guess

Google deserves to be sued for their arrogance in ignoring corrections. My personal experience:
I owned a restaurant located at a major intersection on an interstate, with an exit right there. Anyone who's ever owned a restaurant will tell you that building clientele in the first 6 months is crucial to success. From Day 1, I had people calling me at lunch rush asking "Where are you at and are you open?". Why? Because friggin' Google had decided my USPS address was two exits and about 7 miles to the north!
OK, I corrected it on their handy form submission. Two days later, they "corrected" it back. For most of the first 18 months, Google insisted my location was 2 exits North, an exit that happened to feature a number of well-known local restaurants and national chains. Except for the three week span where they unilaterally decided my store was 25 miles to the South at the same interstate block # on the other side of town.
I did correction after correction. At one point, I even got an email response from Google that was straight out of a Monty Python skit, to wit: "We've corrected your corrections because our corrections are automated, and thus are always the correct corrections." They cost me hundreds of thousands of dollars. I would get 3-4 calls/day at lunch rush asking where we were, which means another 5-10x that just gave up.
Frick Google. Monopolistic foreign-run arses have no concept of freedom or free market. I hope I live to see their collapse. Every big company dies sooner or later, they can't die soon enough for me.

About a decade back I was driving with a friend on Mt. Rainier and the Garmin GPS kept insisting we should make a right where there was no road and into the abyss. At least it was middle of the day and we could just joke about it. Looking back it might have been one of lawsuit opportunities for 'car damages' and 'emotional distress'
