OT boomers: "Why don't kids ride motorcycles anymore?"

Also OT boomers: "What can we do with all these kids and their damn ebikes?!"

How about ride the ebikes but don't dart in and out of traffic breaking laws? The fact that people act like those are the only 2 choices is crazy.

Nobody is acting like those are the only 2 choices.

The OP is arguing kids are too scared to take risks and spend all day inside. The daily e-bikes threads prove that is wrong.

Joke with my daughter all the time “You stole my truck. Who taught you to drive stick?” ‘I only stalled it twice. Did I hurt your toy?” I was in the hospital for a week with pneumonia and pleurisy. Did you start drinking at 5 am or was this residual from last night?

The reason is probably many things compounded:

1. Kids growing up in single mother household. Her kids aren’t riding motorcycles. (This isn’t even in the realm of mom’s avenue. (She can’t even start one)

2. Since no dad, the kid has shown ZERO interest in a motorcycle. See reason one for reason two.

3. Even the little 50cc dirt bikes are $2,500 +. That’s ridiculous

4. Lack of places to ride. We all grew up with neighborhood woods, trails, open fields, etc that the guy who owned it didn’t care because no one was going to sue him back in the 70’s- 2000. Not the case now. Where do they ride?

Two of my sons and I still ride dirt bikes occasionally. Having available woods nearby certainly helps when we would like a quick run up and down some hills.

I always associated dirt bikes and motorcycles with broken home kids

She nailed it. Dopamine addicted human slugs, and you could make this argument for almost every other outdoor activity I’d say, but motorcycles is glaringly obvious. As kids, we grew up with pictures of dirt bikes and motorcross heroes like Bob Hannah plastered on our bedroom walls that served as advertisements to ourselves and our parents what we wanted most in life at 12 years old. Today it’s a video game console or social media to scratch their itch, but it’s never actually ever scratched. It’s just a mind trick played upon an unsuspecting and easily manipulated target, kids, and the lesson is living life vicariously through someone or something else is safer and easier than living actual life where some form of risk is always involved.

How dare kids today get their dopamine hit in a different way than you got yours?

Motorcycles are death traps. There's no margin for error, and the most attentive driver is little against everyone else. The only societal benefit from motorcycles is the steady supply of transplantable organs they provide. Disagree if you like, but it's the truth.
