Landry is so bad I may vote Democrat next time to send a message. He's the epitome of the stupid Republican, tilting at silly culture war foolishness, while ignoring real problems and fellating the PI bar. He's a Temu John Kennedy.

I have yet to meet anyone who will admit to liking him in private.

Thanks. But I replaced it on Sunday. It was time. As I was removing it, I noticed that lots of things just appeared to be close to coming apart. So it was time. And I've had no more fine rust in my hot water. Thanks all
Wrong. There's a big difference between tossing out throws and trying to hit people with items never intended to be thrown. Water bottles, grosses, etc. Everyone knows the difference
I'm sorry that happened. Unfortunately, I think incidents like that are more common than many acknowledged.I went to Bacchus with my GF, and had a water bottle smack me in the head. A friend saw it thrown, and we were not near the front. I took my son to see a friend ride recently and got smacked in the head with a gross. Mardi Gras has a wonderful, storied history. But many riders can't hold their liquor. Anyone with a few k who wants to feel fancy and ride can. They decide to huck things at people, and there's almost nothing that can be done about it. Also, Mardi Gras parades are repetitive, wasteful, and the major balls gauche, black tie tailgate-concerts. If it's your thing, good for you. But for me, I'd as soon see it return to something akin to what it once was or fall by the wayside.

I've never flushed it. It's been squirrelly in the past, but no significant issues.

This or the short variant of the same thing are what I was going to get. Need to confirm my spacing. What makes it so great?

Hot water heater question

17 year old gas hot water heater has started passing what look like fine particles of rust. No leaks or strange sounds, but thinking it's time to change it. To the extent it matters, GE brand, 40 gallons, and natural gas. No issues with cold water.

Any disagreements or other thoughts?
No surprise. It's February. The Reveille is a rinse and repeat shop. You will see the same thing across many topics. The Reveille long ago joined the ranks of irrelevant, little read publications who recycle old content for new clicks.
What does Cleve ostensibly do to earn a living. Some sort of consulting I'm sure?

I like the library. I'm probably in the Goodwood branch once or twice a month, and I use its online services. Every time I've been in the Goodwood branch, it's busy. I've noticed similar things at other branches. But I think we can agree that even if the downtown branch needed a renovation, it became a boondogle of a vanity project that was bad PR. I"m not accusing you; don't know if you were even on the Board. But that project will haunt the Library.

The bigger issue is that we as a population are heavily taxed and see few benefits from it. I'm sure someone will roll in shortly and claim we are not taxed highly by national standards. But compare us to any other state, and tell me we have better infrastructure based on what we pay. Look at our per-capita tax collections compared to other states.

The reality is that our elected officials have a history of mismanaging tax dollars. So no one wants to put money into a general fund; it's all dedicated taxes. It's sad that the Library's comparative good fiscal management (backstopped by some overfunding) made it an attractive target for a cash strapped city. I won't hold that against you. But I join the guy above who said that now that the library has made known that it can operate on 8.3 mills, I better not see an ask for more without a good explanation.

Good luck, and thank you for sharing. We need more good civil discourse.

Photographer for children

Can anyone recommend a photographer in the Baton Rouge area that takes good newborn and child photos. I've talked to several that have reasonable sitting fees but want a fortune for the digital images. I don't mind paying for their time to take the photos and make any edits or adjustments necessary, but I'm not going to them and paying $20+ every time I want a print for an aunt.

Alternatively, what have you paid? Maybe my expectations are unreasonable. One I looked at was $800+ for a shoot ($350ish) and the balance for rights.

At the end of it, I'd like the .jpgs so I can print them where and when I want, or use them in a digital frame.

Thanks!
This is a great post. It's very sad that the spectrum of what is classified as hazing is now so broad that it includes a lot of what you described. In particular sober rides program, cleaning the house, being yelled at, and beer drinking.
I don't vote for taxes, renewals included. When I believe the money I pay is being spent wisely, I will reconsider, but not before.
Jeff is at best a caricature of a conservative.
I recall through early 2000s, every house would have an after game party. Over a series of years, the admins made it progressively harder to have events on campus. Security requirements, catering requirements, sign off and approval, all got harder. This is why bid night and exchanges are now mostly off campus now. Tailgates were a relief valve for this. If there was no after party, go tailgate. They used to be scattered, some at houses, some around campus, but the groups eventually settled into the parade ground. Now you have what you have and everyone is trying to unwind it to get back to what was. I'm not sure the students want to go back to their houses. I guess we will see.

New Orleans has the government it deserves, not the government it needs.
Agree regarding there being too much piped in music played at too high a decibel level. I'm reply to add that it's almost impossible to hear what the miced refs are saying too. It used to be clear when they cut to their feed after a call, but it and the announcer all sound distorted now.

What did they charge you per square for standing seam?
