Track is a truth teller. No BS about accessibility to the sport.

Black folks with higher fast twitch muscle fiber dominate 100 and 200. White folks with a more ordinary build tend to dominate the middle distance races, with some really attractive gals in those races. Marathons and other long distances tend to be dominated by East Africans who are long and lean. Body types in the categories are quite distinct.

The only reason the other national teams can even compete with the US is because they play together more and bring in a few elite talents. The US throws together a bunch of all-stars that play together briefly. That is where they make up some ground compared to the talent gap in the teams.

The same thing goes for college basketball. You see less talented teams do well because you have a few elite programs that try to create the older more cohesive teams instead of getting short term players that make quick jumps to pro basketball.

There is nothing wrong with the NBA outside of some officiating opportunities. The refs can be absolutely horrible. In general it is a super fun and entertaining sports product. I don’t get or agree with the racial angle of the OP.

There is a level of reverse discrimination and bias against white American players. JJ Reddick has discussed it. It's challenging to culturally fit in and the players are somewhat isolated.

This has been happening since Maravich played. He talked about being the only white player in Atlanta and the stress it created. How the other players wanted nothing to do with him. Many examples since.

I think this is a big reason why so many mixed players identify as black, even though they most are 50/50. It's easier to fit in and be accepted..

The communities with dynamic youth sports will produce elite adult players. So it may be as simple as what sports are available and popular in your neighborhood growing up.

if black people through genetics were more athletic than white people, then how come the U.S. men's basketball team routinely gets schooled by European teams, many of which have mostly or all white teams?

Europeans play as a team. US basketball players play to show off individual prowess for high light reels. Look at the LSU team from the early 90s with Chris Jackson, Shaquille O'Neal, Vernel Singleton, Stanley Roberts, Maurice Williamson, Wayne Sims... All of then were exceptioinal players. All of them played as individuals on the court and never gelled as a team. Couldn't even win the SEC because of it.

Larry Bird is arguably the best white basketball player of all time

You obviously never saw Pete Maravich play. To this day, nothing comes close to what he could do on the court. Nothing. But, for all his talent and skill, LSU never beat Kentucky once when he played for the Tigers. Adolph Rupp's game plan for LSU was: "Let Maravich score all he likes, but don't let anyone else score a single point."

Maravich was every bit the marvel in the NBA that he was in college. Bird was extremely good, but he was no Maravich.

European basketball teams with a much smaller pool of players to choose from routinely defeat US teams in exhibition games or play well against NBA all stars in the Olympics.

couple things at playing here.

1st because each European country is more like a US state, the national teams have played together since they were kids. Wheras the US team is comprised of Stars that are so spread out, that they've Neve really played together before.

2nd style of the game.American and European ball are 2 different styles of play. One European here will struggle, because we don't play the style they are accustomed to. But a team of Europeans playing together against a team of Americans, is a much different story.

Gym rats. The first ones in the gym and the last to leave. High motors. White people might not be the biggest and the strongest, but they are SLOW!

Black men have more dense muscle mass and bigger bones, therefore you see very few black olympic swimmers.

Boy are you gonna be surprised when you see our 2024 Olympic head coach, 88 gold medalist Anthony Nesty. Stick around for the Josh Liendo vs Jordan Crooks showdowns.

Wasn’t something medically written that black people have an extra muscle in their leg that allows them to run faster and jump higher?
