We have longer limbs. Have you checked out the average wing span of African American males vs white males?

Yeah most white basketball players have wingspan that’s pretty much equal to their height. Blacks have a couple extra inches at least. Rondo is an extreme example.

If two guys are 6’5 and one has a 6’5 wingspan and the other has a 6’10 wingspan… are they really the same height in a basketball sense?

Without reading any of the posts, here's my thoughts.

It is a cultural thing, depending on where the kid grows up and what he is exposed to.

Black communities (doesn't have to be geographic) have basketball goals in every driveway and that's their focus 18 hours per day.

If you grew up in Stephensville, Texas, all your friends may be practicing roping and that's what you learn to love.

Because we don't have a lot of world class hockey players in Pierre Part, we can't expect a lot of interest there.

I don't understand soccer and rugby rules.

Is it a mindset that when choosing players that a black player with similar statistics is always going to be better than a white player or are there other reasons why the sport is so predominately composed of black athletes on US teams?

This is part of it. The elephant in the room.

It’s the gene pool.

It is not just the poor aspect by itself. As a result of that aspect the AA youths are enamored by the sport as well which has generated a majority following. Football is also heavily played by the AA's and it costs money for that.

Contrast with baseball where I saw a yr or two ago that AA participation in pro baseball is down to single digits and falling.
