New Orleans is a shite hole.
DC is prosperous.
We should move one of the government agencies in DC to New Orleans.

It's always confuse the shite out of me too but I'm going to go with this just based on gut.
People here are cheap.
No I mean, people here are really cheap. Places like Harbor Freight and Walmart do really well here yet the entire metro area doesn't have a single store that sells woodworking or metalworking equipment, unless you count PMC out in Hammond.
Also, all their money goes to interest payments, mortgage and bad money management. There's very little disposable income even though people make enough money to have it. People spend all the disposable income on partying, drinking and eating out. There's very little to support any high-end or specialized retail.

#1 No one can do business in NO without paying off the politicians, it's like a mafia.
#2 no one wants to live where you risk your life walking from parking to home/work.

The East just needs to split and incorporate themselves and join either St Bernard, St Tammany or Jefferson Parish.
It would save Orleans Parish a shite ton of momey.

Google “New Orleans 2005,” or “New Orleans crime,” or “New Orleans corruption.”

When is OP going to fix the tile and get rid of the second question?

I know a couple of years ago a guy was looking at some potential investment properties in New Orleans East and he got shot and killed in broad daylight. It happened at like 10:30 in the morning.

The other night I went to the Walgreens on Bullard and noticed I wasnt the only white guy for once. As I walked by I overheard he was lost and asking security for directions to slidell. I just laughed.
NOLA east is a shithole except for Venetian Isles and the Dong Phong area

In the last year or two there was a movement from leaders in The East as a threat.
Absolutely no one tried to stop them from leaving.

New Orleans East is about 25% occupied. Maybe less.
If I were investing in storage or low income rent apartments....I would be all in.
Lotta land out there. All the way to bayou sauvage
I work in the area twice a week and have never felt threatened. There are good people out there.

From the mid to late 1970's, anything pass Downman Road east started going to shite very fast. That area before that time way east was country. Was a great area. My family had a lake front camp out there and sold out due to having it broke in and ripped apart many times.
I just did a street view of the street the ol relatives lived on. It doesn't look too bad. I figured it would have looked way more ghetto like. Not so. At least in the street view.
Disclaimer: I did a street view of some of the worst crime areas of Chicago, and they, too, did not look bad.

I knew of a business guy that did, bought and was fixing up residential and commercial rental property in NO East.
He was murdered by some thugs while out doing some stuff on the properties.
So, that should answer your fricking question.

Kiwi, did you go to lake castle?
I did not...well, I went to Summer Camp there one year between 6th and 7th grade. I had a lot of friends that went there though and I'm still friends with the Buteras.
I did however go to a school approximately 2.5 miles east of LC on Hayne until 7th grade
